I keep hearing things about people not been able to afford the games they want or are limited to only a few games a year, Ps3 owners seems to have it the worst. How much do yall make?? Talking mainly College students to early 30's

well i'm 28 years old and i'm anIT tech and my wife is anRN i make $13.50 an hour and she makes $15.00but after you throw the kids and bills in the mix were still ok. with us it's not a matter of not having money for games its what's worth the money. my wife plays my games too and if i buy a game that sucks she raises hell about it and her favorite line is "you could have done something else with that $60" or "you could have rented it first"
Well im a Uni student and its tough as hell here, I quit my job at footlocker a few months ago and regret it ever since. Im jobless, having to rely on my parents money they saved up for me. Feeling guilty of taking there money all the time since they paid of all my fees and everything so no Student loan for me. No one is Hiring and I mean no one Not even Macdonalds LOL. So i couldnt even think of buying a game right now. At least not full Retail price.
I'm 19 and in college. My family has enough to get by fairly easily, but I don't seem much of that money for my own luxuries. My parents pay my health insurance and car insurance, but I pay for and buy just about everything else. I've been working since I was 15 and have saved a decent amount of money over the years. Usually I can just go out and get a new game whenever I want. I'm becoming more conservative with the stuff I buy since the economy here is so bad. I'm not going to spend all of my money incase my family needs it for whatever reason.
yeah i'm poor, i live at home while going to school, getting my goods and moving in with my girlfriend ( she only has an obsession with streetfighter, pshhh) , doing a more specialized career in nursing, while i'm going into nursing to do blood work, pump drugs. =] =] win win for my video game hobby.
i like to play tennis? but that came around cuz of mario tennis on the n64. haha iconic symbol for wealth, and i play because of a videogame.
well poor means living on the streets , i doubt theres any gamers on the streets but over half do not have thousands of dollars , to spend after all the bills
poor means you can't keep yourself afloat on your own wages.well poor means living on the streets , i doubt theres any gamers on the streets but over half do not have thousands of dollars , to spend after all the bills

Actually, I think that is called "homeless." "Poor" is what you are just before you are "broke" which is just before what you described: "homeless." And I do have thousands of dollars at the first of every month. It just disappears almost instantaniously. :([QUOTE="PimpiNbananas"]

My wifes a middle school teacher and I'm between jobs and currently staying home with the kids until summer to save us $800 bucks a month on daycare. So, all I do all day is play games. :D Anyway, even now at our lowest income and poorest financial state (I used to clear over $4000 a month til my company went bankrupt in january) I still find the money to get a new game almost every week. I do odd jobs and watch nieces and nephews and do tattoos for extra cash, so I always have that to throw at a game. I usually shop cheap, though. I'm often buying old PS2 games or used games at GS or on eBay. Its very rare I get a game for full price (like infamous (i paid on it a lil at a time, though)). Just have to be a smart shopper. ;)Nephilim83
Wow Whats your job? 4g a month aint too bad, and you do tats too nice
poor can have alotta meanings, what i mean by poor is someone who makes minimum wage, or someone who does not earn enough money for them to buy things other then the bare essentials. Who always have to stress on budgeting on things as small as a internet connection. That is poor, example: theres heaps of ppl who makes quite a bit of money dealing drugs but ppl still call them brokeass or seemingly joke about it.

I used to work on an offshore drilling rig in the gulf of mexico as an assistant driller. I worked two weeks on and two weeks off each month. So, basically, I cleared over two grand per work week. Sadly, though, the economy went to hell and with the gas prices dropping companies stopped investing in oil wells. So my company went under (but they were plagued by years of poor financial management and a bad safety record). Anyway, I could get another job like that with my experience, but I've spent so much time away from my two toddlers that my wife and I thought it'd be a good idea for me to take a break. She's quitting after this year, so I'll get a new job during the summer. Hopefully. Tats are more of a hobby than anything, but i have a lot of friends that work at different shops in the area who get me some chair time if they are ever swamped, so there is always that. Either way, I'm never really poor! ;)My family is a very wealthy family but the wealth is not evenly distributed...
So I am poor whilst my parents have money...
I'm not poor, but I'm a little concerned about how much I spend on games. I average about 1 game per month, and 2nd hand stuff isn't an option for me. I'm really strict about my games being first hand and unused when I buy them, for some reason...
It's an expensive hobby for sure, but hey, we all deserve to over-indulge every now and then.

I thought I was the only one, I just love knowing that the case is all smooth with no wear marks, and smelling all new. And peeling the shrink wrap. Feels like Christmas

That's like me except I shop in the used sections. lol. I have extra game cases in case I get some effed up ones, and I get discs resurfaced to make them look mint if they are in bad enough condition. I print magazine quality scans of the net if the cover art is screwed. Other than that I care not. I like better to know that I just got an excellent copy of Beyond Good and Evil for $6 at my local flea market and a barely used copy of Uncharted for $14 on eBay. I almost never get a poor copy (unless I shop at GameStop and get thos nasty stickers on the case) and I enjoy the peace of mind off knowing I didn't just over withdraw my bank account. Also I average 1 -2 games a week these days. Sometimes I'm more comfortable with quantity over quality, ;)

of course the kids dont understand that poor is a state of no money, with everything paid of, you can afford a little this and that, but its not easy
theres a plane from poverty to poor, well to do families with well to do lifestyles in a not well to do economy generalize as poor, ya b*strds lol.

:D Thanks for the comment. My wife and I are all about family. When it all comes down to it **** a career! We both hate sticking our babies in daycare so much we used to cry when we left them. We definately want at least one of to be home with them instead. Stay at home parents are a must in my opinion. If anything else my family and I will pack up like a bunch of hippies and live in the woods as long as we get to be together. ;)i just think the majority (not all) of gamers are either students or people just out school working their first job. being one of those two pretty much insures that you won't have a lot of expendable money. i personally am in med school and paying for that with loans. coincidentally i'm also paying for my gaming addiction with said loans. haha.I keep hearing things about people not been able to afford the games they want or are limited to only a few games a year, Ps3 owners seems to have it the worst. Thanks man. Thanks for reminding me that I'm at least doing something right where it really counts. And honestly if I didn't have my kids what would I do with this Wii?? LMAO.Oh, and I apologize, TC, for getting off topic. I'm not poor, though, I got family. :) (Eeewww, that was cheesey. lol)

No problem man ;). As for the Wii, I'm not too sure what you would do with it if you didn't have kids lol. It must have one or two games that a grown man can enjoy hehehehe.I too apologize to the TC. I am just as guilty as Nephilim for going OT hahaha. Being a gamer myself I would say that I am not poor. I also don't have THAT many expenses living at home still ;). Also, I think it would be tough for a "poor" person to purchase a consol that runs upwards of 450 dollars :P
