Are playstations country locked?

I live in india. So if i buy a PS3 from amzon.com (ie US amazon) will it work in india perfectly? Or are the consoles country locked like iphones etc?

@saurabh20892: Yes it will work fine, I have a US PS4 as well and I'm in Australia.

Also, who told you that mobile phones are locked to a country?

@saurabh20892: All my US/CAN games work on my JPN PS4 and PS3. The only real wall you'll run into is with download only games.

@saurabh20892: Some games are region exclusive because of publishing rights, and that sort of thing.

For example the TMNT TiT Remake can only be bought with a Chinese PSN account. In every other region it has been removed.

PAL/NTSC don't apply unless you have an analog TV.
