Those look like good deals for 1080p sets, but I've heard people say that there isn't much difference between 720p and 1080p sets unless you go above 46". You could most definitely find a nice 42" 720p set for much less $. I could be wrong about the picture difference....it's just what I've heard.

Do NOT buy your TV from Best Buy.

http://www.pricegrabber.com

I got a 60" 1080p Sony LCD for about $2k.

I need to have 1080p with my 40". The difference is obvious (to me anyway sitting 5 feet from the screen). Some people I suppose don't really care about the difference in quality or possible just can't tell the difference (perhaps it has to do with their eyes), so really, it's up to you whether you go for 1080 for 720.

Well, I want the 1080P for the Blu-ray movies I bought for my PS3. I know that not all PS3 games are running in 1080P but wouldn't hurt to own 1080P now for the future right!?

Get the insignia I have it, I also have a 50" 1080 Sony, and in comparison, I can't believe the insignia is such a good deal, it's an up and coming brand, that's why it's so cheap, but it is very good quality it really surprised me

Correct. Actually having a 1080p TV makes it more of an investment since it pretty much future proofs your TV... thus preventing you from having to buy a new one in the future. Resolutions beyond 1080p.... that's when it becomes hard to discern the difference.

The Insignia's are really nice. I own a Sharp Aquos 32" 720p that I got last year for about $800 (was a great deal at the time). I love it, my PS3 and 360 games look awesome on it. Anyway, going back to the Insignia's....I've seen multiple floor models at Circuit City, Best Buy, etc. and they are really, really nice. Better than Westinghouse, go with the Insignia.

Insignia looks nice. Plus I believe the difference between this and the Westinghouse is the sound watts in which Insignia is 15W and Westinghouse is 10W and the HD is built in the Insignia and the Westinghouse has HD with QAM tuner!?

To the topic starter: Don't listen to the guy who posted the above message. You don't want an HDTV with a native resolution of 1080i. Most PS3 games are still 720p, so if the resolution of your TV is 1080i it will downgrade the image to 480p which is standard TV resolution.
