an impulsive game buyer? I know I am. I buy games alot of times because they are new or I hear great things about them. The problem is that I rarely finish all of the games that I buy. In fact there have been times that I simply buy a game, try it and take it back if I feel that I dont have time for it. I am trying to only have one game per genre and in doing so, Im hoping to actually start finishing some games. Are any of you like this?

Right there with you buddy, a lot of the times I never open the games and with a 45 day return policy at Best Buy, I usually just end up exchanging them for the latest and greatest.

if you are a good customer.. gamestop does... I can try games without even paying for them.. if I like it I keep it and pay, if not I return it... Then again I spend around 300-400US$ monthly, depending on month of course...

***********

@TC: I buy ALL games I know I will like, but no all games that I hear may/are good... UC series is a great sample.

But by getting all this game I do not have the time to play all, so i have quite a few in my "to play list" ... what it did change, is that now I do not have the time to complete all game 100%, so I do not.. I tend to collect must stuff, and they are games that i found every item/weapons (e.g. RE, CV, FF...); but the 100% of now at days (meaning trophies) is a no no for me. Is too time consuming and I prefer spending the "kill X number of enemies with X weapon" time in some other game from my list :P

anyway.. got the day off today.. so WKC :P

Same here - I'll play a demo and within minutes I'm on Amazon ordering it. Or I'll spot a great deal on a game and snatch it up. I usually end up starting on them, putting them back on the shelf, and talking about how I mean to finish them someday :D It's cool though, I will. They're good games.

Yes I have this problem. I was telling my GF last night about Heavy Rain, and she was like are you going to pick it up? I told her no way, I have plenty of games to keep me busy while the game price drops. I already dropped $120 this month alone on Bioshock 2 and ME 2. She said oh I bet you still get it.

I'm definitely tempted even though there is no way I'll have time toplay it. I still have Dragon Age, Borderlands, AC2, and Modern Warfare 2 in the wrapper. However, I can usually find a deal on a new release, but there are zilch this week.

I buy games right when they come out, but I never start a new game until I finish the old one. There is maybe one game I just skipped over...but I will leave the game in the package
and don't start it until I finished my last purchase... I don't get how you guys can buy a game spend 65$ and not finish it... I just feel like I wasted money if I don't finish it.... I try to buy a game at gamestop finish it (used copys) and exchange it with in a week and beat another gam

That's me. Last week I bought 'Lair' on impulse because it was only €8 new. Last school year, I had a lot of exams. I continued buying games online throughout, with only an hour or two a week to play games. A backlog on unfinished games (and in some cases, unplayed) developed and for my Xbox 360, I have a backlog of 22 games (Bought my PS3 about two months ago, but I have been completing my games - completed 6 out of 8 so far). I've been getting back to those games recently and completing them. Completed over 10 games this year already. :D

I haven't made an impulse buy in a long time. I always plan my purchases, and at least think about it for a day or two before buying. I don't really have any stores near me that sell games, so all my shopping is done online where I can take my time and plan.

I used to be. But after accumulating an embarrasingly huge back log of games that I knew I'd never finish I took it upon myself to slow down.

It was really hard for the first year or so, it's like an addiction. I'm not even joking.

I'm usually not an impulsive buyer but one time I went to get some pizza and I came home with 3 new games. I still haven't had a chance to play them and this happened 5 months ago.

No, I look at vids and reviews of games before I buy them unless they're sequels in a series that I know is good (God of war, Uncharted etc..)

I'm with ya man. I've been known to make a few impluse game buys. I bought X Blades today and I put down a reserve for the Dragon Age expansion pack. Even broke down and got an Edge card at Gamestop. I've only finished maybe three games that I own.

Big title games, I buy on day one, like Mass Effect 2, God of War 3, FF13, etc.. and those games, I do see it all the way through and I finish them. Then, there are big title games like Heavy Rain, Bad Company 2, that I may pass up just because it isn't a must have for me, and I simply do not have the time and energy to play them all, to completion. Lastly, there are games that I may have passed up, ignored, that have been out for a significant amount of time that were good to great games. Examples, Dead Space, Resident Evil 5, were some games that I purchased much later. And these are usually the games that I neglect. Infamous, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, are more examples. But yes, I have a habit of compulsive buying. Sometimes just for collecting, even though they're better suited to be played and completed. 50% of the time, I buy used games at Gamestop and if I for some reason do not like them, I return them and get a refund, which they allow.

Not...at...all. I read critic reviews, user reviews, previews, and ask around and view gameplay. If it pans out, then I'll buy it.

I buy games, and play no other games until its finished

well thats crazy. you just waste money. but guess if you like that go for it. I hardly buy games because i finish them to quick, like that last game i bought was bioshock 2 and i have finished that the friday after it came out so thats like what 4-1/2 days of play. i just hate spending $60 on a game that i could have rented for $3-8.00. also because most games have bad replay value. i prob be getting heavy rain, then ff13, then mabye just mabye GOW3 but that game could fall as a rent depends on replay.

I used to buy games on impulse; no more. I had a lot of original xbox games I never started or finished. Out of the 14 PS3 games I have, I have not finished three. So I think I am doing much better.

I'll admit I may have some games that I still havent gotten to yet. But I am way too broke to be an "impulse buyer" in this economy.

Hard to play new games when they cut your power off :P

How is it ridiculous? If you don't like a certain game then you should not feel the need to finish it.

You're only torturing yourself by playing a game you dislike.

The games in recent mind i didn't beat were GTAIV and Dead Space. I usually finish the games i play and if they have online to them, i always finishe the single player before i play the online portion. But, yes I do buy some games on impulse that I never said i would.

my new rule is that unless it has a great multiplayer, i'm not going to buy it unless its an epic game like GOW or something with high replay value.
