I had a feeling that this would end up like Capcom's previous attempt at a Western-developed game (Bionic Commando). The demo pretty much confirmed it. Very mediocre. On a side note, I'm starting to get sick of hearing Nathan Drake in so many games. I don't know if it's because Nolan North only knows how to do one voice, or if developers are specifically asking him to do it that way every single time, but it's really getting overdone...The_Pig_Hostage
What's mediocre about it?
The animation are good, the graphics are good, the controls are smooth and the shooting on foot is good enough for a flight game.
I loved the flying. I actually spent like 20 minutes just flying around before going to the objective. Then I landed and started shooting. Why the hell do the enemies take so much damage? I swear, I emptied like 4 clips trying to kill them with my primary. Then i picked up their gun and that takes 3 shots which is better... but still. Also, when you decide to take off, apparently flying straight into the ground is standard fair. Not messing with it.
In all honesty- this COULD have been a must-buy for me...
If it wasn't for all the AI issues... The ground enemy AI is incompetent and actually very poorly programmed and glitchy.
It very commonly tries to shoot through walls, or even the CEILING- yes, I noticed the floor right below me flashing blue once because the enemy AI at the control panel had somehow noticed me and was trying to shoot me through the floor... :| It's not smart enough to realize when it has a line-of-fire on you or not... :?
And sometimes their aim COMPLETELY glitches- in that they suddenly become completely incapable of hitting you- even when you standing INCHES in front of them. (They commonly completely forget how to do melee attacks when this happens too)
The aerial enemy AI fares much better, but is still below average. At first- it usually does a good job flying circles around you... But then it suddenly decides to fly in a STRAIGHT LINE AWAY FROM YOU... For absolutely no reason other than to give you an easy kill...
If the major AI issues weren't there- this would actually be a must-buy for me. But as it is- the AI issues single handedly drag the game down into just barely decent territory.
I have to admit the flying was pretty enjoyable, but I also agree with your gripes. Taking off is nuts. You pretty much have to point the camera up and jump before hitting triangle or you're gonna do that goofy drunken barrel roll into the ground. And the gunplay in this game reminded me of Uncharted all over again. I was no fan of Uncharted simply because of the horrible shooting mechanics and the fact that those stinking bandits could take a whole clip or more to kill. Nobody wants to waste all their ammo on one guy. Another thing that reminded me of Uncharted was the main character. It really seemed they were going for a Nathan Drake kinda fella. Someone should tell them its not going to work for everyone.I loved the flying. I actually spent like 20 minutes just flying around before going to the objective. Then I landed and started shooting. Wow, I never knew he played in so many games after looking him up on Wikipedia.
In any case I agree, I thought the demo was rather mediocre. If it's good sign as to how th rest of the game will play... well, I more than likely will be passing on this one. Or at least till it hits the bargain bins. Thought the controls were really difficult and all the spinning just made me feel dizzy.
Why do I have to click R3 in order to do an aerial maneuver? The controls are really complicated.
I know my way around a PS3 controller to where I can play most games with my eyes closed, but this is the first time where I was pressing a button that did soemthing completely different from what I wanted to do.
Hopefully the game turns out to be nothing like the demo.

This. The gameplay kinda felt like Uncharted, even Drake's voice was there lol. So yeah I didn't liked the jetpack gameplay that much but I guess you need to get used to it. And the demo was so friggin short that is not even funny.

The graphics were average. I haven't see a more of a bland atmosphere. It's stupid to only be able to do melee when enemies are near and to have the move take so long to do. Why do you need to click the right analog stick and then push both sticks in order to do a 180 turn? That was stupid. The AI was not very smart. It's like the game was trying to be starfox and uncharted, only in a gears of war setting. It's nothing but an average clone of what has already been done. If your thinking about getting this game, you might as well just go for the real deal and get uncharted.
I had high hopes for this  The whole moving the camera with the stick pissed me off, so did the r3 maneuvers which din't work for me, I had to download the demo again for them to work, The lock enemie sucks, and when I was in the shooting part there was an alien shooting me from the other side of the wall it was really bad.
Hope they get it right for the sequel, if there even is one...
Hah when I downloaded the demo and booted it up, it froze my PS3! But really, I had high hopes for the game, but what I played was kind of average. The lock-on system is also pretty pointless, it doesn't lock on to the enemy, just scouts them out, and I was trying to lock-on to an enemy right in front of me, and it locked on to a random enemy behind me. All in all, the jet pack stuff was kind of fun, the on foot stuff was eh.
I downloaded it i just havent played it yet.
I remember someone commented in the PSN store weekly update thing,
"I think this is the kind of game where a demo would actually hurt the game's sales"
Im starting to think hes right, quite a few people didnt like it.

I get the feeling that this wont sell enough to get a sequel. Just a guess, im playing the demo today sometime, it downloaded just have to finish U2 first. Why do I have to click R3 in order to do an aerial maneuver? The controls are really complicated.

Yeah i felt the same way, but i dint think the controller scheme was complicated, i thought it was just plain dumb. I just un-insulated the damn game after destroying the satellites

I get the feeling that this wont sell enough to get a sequel. And they actually planned to base a movie on it starring Brad Pitt. What the hell, why do lately studios plan to adapt video games before they're even out? All these games fail, movies never get made. Case in point Wheelman. Please Log In to post.
