You have a pic of an arcade stick for your avatar. I would think you have some understanding of and appreciation for authentic tactile response.

I might. It really depends on how much I enjoy the game.

Absolutely not. I had a logitech wheel for Gran Turismo 4, biggest waste of money since the Virtual Boy in my time as a gamer. Too much hassle, not enough benefit.

Wow I was modded for poking fun at the fact Sony keeps delaying this game. Grow up and learn to take a joke

I currently have the Logitech Driving Force Gt which was made specifically for GT5 but can be used on PC also. I also just recently ordered a Fanatec 911 Turbo S wheel which can be used for PS3/360/PC so i can play Forza also.

Other wheels to look into are the Logitech G25, Logitech G27 and Logitech Driving Force Pro. GT5 will support a few others.

Imo, i feel wheels are well worth it, but i like to play racing sims. I play a few on PC aswell.

No.

And after trying the demo, I may not even buy GT5 now. The handling is just...retarded. I realize the demo is in Professional Mode as opposed to Standard (or Classic, whatever it's called) but I wasn't impressed.

yeah the demo was a little offputting. i lost control so many times. But I gotta admit the whole time I was wondering how much easier itd be with a wheel and precision pedals? i know gran turismo is as close to the real thing u can find so Im thinking it might be worth it

I get that they want to try and be as realistic as possible, but when I'm going 20mph and I take a medium right turn, the car shouldn't slide out to the left, travel about 40 feet, and crash into the wall. I mean...c'mon. It's like there's an invisible rope that yanks the car. I went back and played some GT4 afterwards, fantastic handling of course. Hopefully the weird handling is just the Professional Mode dealie, but if that is the way the cars will be handling...looks like I'm done with Gran Turismo, and I've played since the original.

It was because of professional mode because they are looking for the best drivers. The GT5 TT was made for GT Academy, meaning that the top 20 drivers in 17 European countries have a chance to go to GT Academy and become a real racecar driver. The guys who one the last GT Academy actually won the season they participated in and are continuing to drive.

The demo was definetly not made to show off the visuals which should be pretty obvious as the Indy GP track looks rather bare bones and bland.

*edit*

The top NA drivers get tickets to the Indy 500 and i don't recall what the top Japanese drivers will get.

I hope that's what it is, just the Professional Mode. I suspected as much, but it still seemed to be a huge departure. If it's as you say, then I will indeed be enjoying GT5...any year now. :/

And aye, I didn't judge the visuals based on that track, though it still looks quite good for being so bare bones. The textures are good, and the cars look fantastic.

You'll notice a wee little text box on the bottom right of posts, it lets you select an action. For your own posts, one of the actions is to edit.
