Since the other competitior has alredady gave out details for their next gen handheld, do you think Sony should announce it at TGS next week or next year like at E3 and take their time with the tech?

Definately a tough question :P, possibly, they could announce that one IS in development so it's no longer rumours, and THEN take their time with it? Make sure it's perfect? :P
I don't know. I think they should wait to 2015 or even 2020 before releasing a new handheld. The PSP is a very powerful beast. The 3DS's graphics aren't much better, so why should they waste their time by investing in a new platform? Might as well stick with the one that's close graphically to the 3DS. Besides, they need to show they'll stick to their products and not abandon them at the sight of a worthwhile opponent. They need to focus on releasing better games for the PSP. It's the games we want after all. Buying new systems is just a necessary evil to play those games. If Sony would just focus on releasing really great games for the current PSP, they'll be fine.
yes, the psp was sony's attempt at the handheld gaming market and it was successful...(sort of) they just need to make more better games and have that thingy that nintendo advertise to game boy advance users so they can play GBA on their own tv. FunnyWeaselI can play my PSP on my TV. Without a PS3.
I really hope not, considering I've just gotten my PSP a few four weeks ago. If they do, I just hope they'll allow UMD's from the first one to be played.
True. The PSP is very powerful. The only problem that killed the system from a few developers was piracy and that was what knocked the PSP off balance. Hopefully Sony will be careful on what tech they develop to stop piracy just like they did for the PS3 with firmware upgrades.I don't know. Yeah i really want the psp2 as long as its backwards compatible. If its not then im not sure if i will bother.
[QUOTE="Daavpuke"]I haven't followed a lot of it, since most things were crazy rumors. Once Sony comes out with the official buzz, I'll take a look.jordonjThat goes double for me. Add me to the list. I have a huge enough backlog of games that need to get played, so a new system won't be in my future for a while, unless backwards compatibility comes into play. For the time being, I'll just sit on the sidelines and enjoy the games I haven't had the chance to experience yet :)

This. I think like someone else said, that the psp is powerful enough to hold its ground againts a DS 2 at leat on visuals. Also I got tons of games that I havent opened yet... I think its better to release more games, not only psp games but also more Ps one Classics, I love playing massive rpgs like FFVIII or Grandia on the go so maybe PS2 games on download too? I dont know if its possible but I would certainly be very excited..
I do. I have a PSP 2000 that takes up some of my time still. Not sure If I want to get the PSP GO or not yet.So who still plays psp??

Wisdom is beautiful!. Coolyfett enjoys the way ur mind works. Reading your take on the matter makes Coolyfett feel joy about being a gamer. Thank you NOT being a fool like others and understanding the unlimited magnificent intergalactic power of the device known as the Playstation Portable. The TGS is here and NOTHING, just as Coolyfett has being telling the wayward flock. The other system is of little importance. The race is already over. Enjoy your handhald. Same here.
They should just confirm its existence or something, then take their time. Enough time for them to make sure it's going to sell well when it comes out.pencruI agree that they should just give some kind of official confirmation that something is "in the works", but shouldn't give any kind of timeline or confirm how close they are to releasing it. That way people won't just wait it out, instead of buying the newer PSP 3000 bundles. Sony won't shoot itself in the foot when lost revenue is at stake...
[QUOTE="dkdk999"]i doubt its true but this says its coming out october. http://www.thirdage.com/news/psp2-sony-set-release_9-17-2010damann22
thats a true article from 2008! theyre talking about the 3000
it says on the page september 17 2010. It even says that in the link. They were just saying the psp 3000 is new i think. Though it does make it sound like their saying the 3000 is coming out.um their next plans is already announced psp phone ,
not much but it confirms psp 2 is far from coming
and no , i dont need 2 handhelds ,
nintendo is the mainstay in that sector
- i only have 17 psp games , and over 30 ds games over 50 gba games so ya , um , i didnt like psp because it did not have different games then the games on consoles
they always shared console games why would i buy 2 versions of a game , i know i d buy 2 versions of a good game but why all of them
ds has different games , then wii
hence why i like it more
i know there're alot of rumours about PSP2, but can anyone give me an educated guess on its release date and whether it will have backward compatibility? i've been considering getting a PSP-3000 to complement my PS3 early next year. obviously if PSP2 is around the corner i'll wait.
First i want to tell you that i am on the same boat as you. I've been about to get a 3000 bundle and haven't done so because of these stupid rumors. Last year was the same, rumors were saying it was going to launch last year, then after new games were announced rumors again began to saying that i was going to be launched this year, now new great games are announced at Tokyo Game Show and new rumors again. All in all Sony haven't announced a PSP 2 and if it really exist it is in development and will take a while to launch. I think i will get the current one. I don't want to miss Monster Hunter portable 3, Valkyria Chronicles 2-3, Dissidia 2, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walkers and Kingdoms Hearts Birth by Sleep.i know there're alot of rumours about PSP2, but can anyone give me an educated guess on its release date and whether it will have backward compatibility? i've been considering getting a PSP-3000 to complement my PS3 early next year. obviously if PSP2 is around the corner i'll wait.
