Yes, sort of.
Except for the Brothers in Arms series. I strongly recommend those. You've got to love the fact that there are still games with great and deep storytelling...
In the mid to late 80's the NES got a huge diversity of war games that involved the cold war, war on drug lords, Vietname, ext. But it seems like all of the war games now-a-days are on post war world 2, pre war world 2, or on war world two. You are right, there is no other war games, and if there is its a si-fi game like Gears of War or Halo. But to answer your question, yes, I'm sick of WW2 games.
As much as I enjoy deep, rich historical WW2 games (as someone above said, Brothers In Arms is a great example) I'm about as bored of fighting Nazis as I am of fighting generic modern terrorists. Lets see some more of the world's history, how about the forgotten war, Korea? The dramatic retreat to Pusan as NKPA armoured columns smash all before them, desperately holding the perimeter at Pusan, then the counter-attack, beach landings at Inchon, one of the most audacious amphibious assault of the century, street-fighting through Seoul, then the shock attack by hordes of Chinese 'volunteers'. Epic.
Or if that's a little too close to WW2 for you, lets go back further. I can't say I've seen many games set around the Great War, that could be interesting. On the other hand, I suppose endless trench warfare might get boring too. So lets go back even further! How about, Call of Duty: Napoleon or something! Think of Richard Sharpe! I used to play a Source mod called Battlegrounds 2 on PC, that was a team-based MP set during the American Revolution which was really good. You could either be an officer with a sword and pistol, or a rifleman with a musket and bayonet. It worked really well, because shooting was powerful but inaccurate, and very slow reloads. The tactics of the time were implemented well, a line of musketmen firing in volleys with an officer or two to chop up anyone who got too close would perform better than just running around lone-wolf style.
I also think 'alternate history' settings are the way forward, there was an (admittedly quite badly executed) old shooter called World War Zero or something, I think it was set in an alternate 50s where the First World War had never ended, and just dragged on and on. The game was fairly crappy but I thought the setting had a lot of potential.
Haha just a little contribution of mine!
Much love,

There have been barely any WWII games released in the past years so I find it hard to believe that you're only just choosing now to say that you're 'sick of them' . If you don't like the one's that are available then don't buy them. Simple as that. Silent-Halthat's highly untrue, call of duty 4 was a great game although thats when i realized theres to much ww2 shooters, then the resent brothers in arms game (also great game) was just the icing on the cake for my theory. Im not saying i don't like them im saying that its getting old.
WW2 is the biggest conflict to date, and also a war that was clear who was the bad guys so to speak. Many other wars are difficult to design a shooter behind because the scenario is more controversial.
WWII is a significant part of human history, that's why we have a lot of it in movies and games... its okay to have WWII games as long as they're good... almost everyones likes movies and games about WWII... and some are sick of it now, because they used to love it and had 'em in large doses,..

if you want a bad shooter go play Crysis or Doom 3.
Furi-Kun
Really?:?
Yup, badass shooters.
[QUOTE="xroguekillax"]I was.... Then I played COD:WAW, and I wasn't sick of them anymore. WAW is a great game, even though it's set in WWII, the game actually felt like something fresh and new, and not just more of the same dull WWII everyone had grown tired of.WhiteSnake5000No, it felt like COD4. So it's not really fresh and new. Although Zombie mode was. I wasn't comparing it to COD4 though. Compared to other WWII games, it felt like something fresh and new.
