A few reviews have arrived, and this game is already bad.

i vaguely played the demo but didn't have much time with it... i like the overhead view and smash tv shooting control (old snes game), but yeah i'd probably not buy it.
So what ! reviewers are not the allmighty game testers. I played the demo and I love it. I even prefere it over GTA: CTW which got great reviews. Trading GTA tomorrow to get Army of Two the 40th Day PSP instead ;)A few reviews have arrived, and this game is already bad.

....just get out..
Read my review on the page for it either here or on IGN. I gave it a 9.0. You can't believe everything you read. On top of that IGN is the one with the article that reads "Should Sony Abandon the PSP?", They are just trying to get it into the grave by making people think that every game is gonna suck from now on. Especially if you look at some of the lackluster scores they have been giving good games lately I.E. Army of Two: The 40th Day.FendersONLYCouldnt of said it any better myself

I'll buy it someday, but right now, Socom FTB3 and Motorstorm Arctic Edge are No.1 on my list(can't wait for ftb3!).

Motorstorm: Arctic Edge is friggin tight you should already have it lol.The demo of Ao2 was alright, there was nothing particularly broken about it, but tell me what I missed because I didn't see a 9. Is the complete game more dimensional than the demo? I'm not asking with sarcasm, rather genuine interest.
:D
What I saw was sort of "Liberation"-esque gameplay with "Robotron" controls - which I like - but there wasn't much aside from move-right-shoot. Am I wrong? Or, does it just really do the move-right-shoot really well?

The demo doesn't really do the game justice, there is more environmental traversal than just move right shoot. It is much better than the demo portrays.Well then... if you say so, Fender, that's enough of a recommend for me to try it again or at least give it another chance!
i doubt you will like it stone. it's too arcadey for you. and from your previous game choices, you seem to avoid arcade type games like the plague. also the challenge isn't that much so you will get bored quickly. if i remember correctly, you did not like killzone liberation either, and that one had more depth than this one. but hey, who knows you might end up liking it.
The similarities to "Liberation" were what turned me off to it initially, Jason... so perhaps you're right... I just don't WANT to dislike it, if that makes sense. I loves me a good violent shooter...

I love killzone but i just couldnt get into the 40th day. I think its partly due to the fact that Im so accustomed to the liberation control scheme and going to something different was uncomfortable. However the demo didnt get me excited or crunk at all. Hopefully FTB3 will fill my shooting void.
I played it before any decent reviews were out, but for once, I actually like a game that got bad reviews. The graphics are great, and it's not a terribly shallow game. The voice acting is good, but the script is awful, and the moral choices for some reason actually make me feel bad when you make a wrong choice. I like it, but sometimes the combat feels too easy, and sometimes it's too hard(boss battles).
It is like Killzone with less challenge and more arcade like gameplay.
I wish the game was like Syphon Filter or Resistance Retribution.
I updated my review on GameSpot to go a little bit more in depth for the gameplay aspects of the game. Take a look at that, I think it does a little bit better job than the big website reviewers. What I can't understand is all the previews they were saying "Oh its built from the ground up for the PSP", So tell me why all these reviews are constantly comparing it to the consoles? Give my review a peek to see what you think.FendersONLY
I think that people do that in part because it's a "recognized" franchise, meaning it was important to someone enough to green-light a sequel and thereforit deserves some credit for surviving in today's 3-minute shelf life marketplace. so they want to make sure that someone who was a fan of the console gets some perspective on the quality of the game when held up to the others in the series. If I remember correctly, "KZ: Liberation" was held up to it's PS2 big brother while in development ad then when it was put out, which I couldn't understand at the time nor do I now. You're right, in other words - It's a royally stupid thing to do.
I'm the king of weird or off-market games around here... and I've foud plenty to like in titles which were reviewed to be middling or poor games. I suppose beauty is truly in the eyes (and thumbs) of the beholder when it comes to consuming this artform. I think, too, that if a lot of these critics had to pay retail for the titles they review they would view things a bit differently in terms of fun-factor in a game. Most of us don't play a title we're not fundamentally interested in in the first place as far as genre and such, and if you liked the gameplay in "Liberation" then I could see getting into a game which is similar in nature like "40th Day", and though it might not be as good as "Liberation" it has entertainment value and it makes the time go by in the waiting room or lunch break and so we as fans look at a game differently than someone who is being assigned to and paid for a game review. They feel a responsibility (hopefully) to the reader to put the game in a familiar context so that the reader has a watermark to judge by what is said about a game... "if you played (x) then (y) looks like this from that perspective"... if you like this, here's what I thought of that... and all of it quite irrelavent when you answer the important question which is "What's the Fun Factor", ultimately. Or at least, that's how WE think it should go. But we're just fans and not struggling video game reviewers.
Fans aren't as hung up on certain minutia BS when it comes to scratching a genre itch.
Except for those pesky "Final Fantasy" nut-jobs.
KIDDING KIDDING. Don't hit the mod call-button, it was a JOKE... I've played several FF games and I understand the love.
That's why I said before, if you dig it (40th Day) Fenders, then that is swaying testimony and maybe I should give it a closer look... I respect the opinions around this forum a LOT more than I do a website or magazine feature on a game. Wasn't it you who posted a question recently as to if "LA Remix" was worth $20 while you waited for the next great new racing game to come out?

lol, i like killzone liberation and didnt enjoy the 40th day demo at all. Maybe if 40th day came out first or killzone didnt have such a fun multiplayer would i like 40th day.
Nah its just that Army of two doesnt really need that poor cover system its more arcade-ish than liberation and a lot of people dont see that and say to themselfs "it sucks cuz the cover system and AI aint as good as Liberation's"
If you look at the game as a Contra insipred fast move-a-lot-athon you'll see it really fun
When I tried out the demo (which for some reason took forever installing on psp) it was ok, the graphics were sweet, nice arensal of weapons but i could not get
accustomed to the odd control scheme, otherwise it seems pretty like a decent game. [eventually i will buy it on PC tho]
