As far as Fallout 3 and it's gameplay issues. GOTY edition? Or original and dlc?

Well I've got the GOTY and it ran perfectly, silky smooth until AFTER I finished the main questline, then its slowdowns and freezing and random crashes across the board. In fact, it got to a point where I found it pretty much unplayable so I've shelved it until I can be bothered to start a new game. Not saying this will happen to your copy though, only way to find out would be to try it!

Perhaps it's a problem with Broken Steel, because I had absolutely zero issues with it until I'd finished the main storyline and passed level 20 (although I passed level 20 first).

They literally just slapped the DLC on the disc. It's exactly the same either way.

You could try downloading the expansions separately. But the freezes and glitches will still be there, i would just buy the GOTY edition and hope it runs smoothly.

I have the original copy with DLC and I've had freezing upon in game activation of DLC (usually when I started one of the DLC quests) But it only froze once and never had a problem again.

Point Lookout gets buggy in certain areas though. I think it's the buggiest of the DLC and might take a couple of restarts to get it straight.

But other than that, there's the usual random freeze or glitch or whatever. Just be sure to keep auto save on incase it does freeze and you forgot to save after awhile.

Wow, just like that eh? I figured it would've been the same as Oblivion's GOTY when a few things were changed.

My Point Lookout was alright, it was Operation Anchorage that I had to grit my teeth through :x and there were a few stutters through The Pitt which were particularly bad because I really enjoyed that one. But like I said, I don't know whether they'd have been like that if I'd had a go at them BEFORE Broken Steel started. Next time I play it I'm going leave the main quest until I've done everything else and see if it makes a difference.

Actually on my end, The Pitt ran flawlessly.

It does seem to be pretty random "per user" doesn't it?

The GOTY edition has loads of glitches, especially Operation Anchorage DLC. If I was you, I'd play original and download them. I wish I did that now, because in the GOTY copy I came across a glitch which costed me 64 hours of gameplay :(

fallout without goty freezes much so be prepared to cache clear.

i had fallout original and have goty now; since i like fallout i hard reset the system when it freezes and reload old saves and work my way back to where i was to learn around a glitch.

most of the dlc glitches have no difference on occurring on the goty disc or dl; so if you go to anchorage and wei kills you you have to start over the system and reload a save as all the glitches are identical.

I have the GOTY Edition, finished the main questline and have messed around quite a bit in the wasteland after. Only froze on me once...I'm using the original 80GB Hard Drive, which I've heard helps the game run that bit smoother.
