As The PS3 Clan (Us) What Do All You Think About Square Enix This Gen?

okay welll we have plenty of games coming out now and we already beginning to drop Demons Souls and hopefully White Knight Chronicles drop out soon by the new year of january...but here is my big thing....I remember like yesterday when they had talked about that The last remnant was dropping to the PS3 soon....even when it was going to be rumored as a Updated version...but i think its kind of weird about the fact that the Sony PS3 does not have a single PS3 title from Square Enix except the Psn ones... it was rumors that The Last Remnant and Star Ocean was coming to us...but tick tock...its been already almost a whole year of 2009 and hurtful to day we do not have a Square Enix title....We all love our RPG's and of course we are coming back but...all we been guaranteed (and good thing still) we are getting FFXIII...but what about the rest ?

What do you guys think ?

I think they gonna obviously come around....i mean if you look at it 360 been around longer than 360 has and thats why so thats why they turning to others to give them games ans stuff...but yeah like they gonna come out with more games for PS3 especially...llike i mean they already got planned up to FF14 what they doing in the future...imagine what theyre doing after that.....FF7 remake, Kingdom Hearts 3, So on and so forth and i mean like PS3 gonna live for a while so we gotta just sit tight...

I agree. PS3 has severlely lacked good JRPGs, especially from Square Enix. There were so many great Square RPGs on PS1, PS2, and PSP, and I thought they would continue this on PS3, but so far that hasn't been the case. We do have FFXIII and Versus XIII to look forward to, but we need more.

sqaure enix will come around? Although I dunno if I care that much, they havent made a good console game for ages, Hopefully final fantasy 13, versus 13 and 14 will put them up there with the best developers again.Totalgym9000

I think the management has displayed poor understanding of the direction the industry has taken, and that Japanese development as a whole (outside of Capcom) is dragging its feet and refusing to actually evolve to meet the changing demands of consumers. JRPGs don't sell any more unless they're called Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest; the gameplay is too dated, the action isn't visceral enough, the characters only appeal to otaku in Japan..there're a ton of problems they haven't addressed because they refuse to see them, or they don't want to acknowledge Japan's falling stake in gaming. They also want to break into the Western market, and Japanese ethnocentrism informed their decision making about it - they assumed that, because Japanese people tend to buy Japanese products, so too must Americans tend to buy American products. So they've supported the 360 disproportionately in the hope of getting a foothold in America. It's backfired because the market they want to appeal to doesn't actually like their games. They've also received very large amounts of money from Microsoft for exclusivity, because (somewhat poetically) Microsoft want to break into the Japanese market as bad as Square-Enix want to break into America's. Eventually they'll put titles out on PS3 simply because the demographics that buy their games - especially among the Japanese - will still buy their products on that platform. And because they will need to recoup investment in major HD titles somehow, given the poor sales they've seen.MissCammy

Square Enix alwats tlaks about being "fair" but seriously they will never be fair.. as much as i love them and love all their games i hate their talk about being "fair" especially with FFXIII, if they are really fair they would have at least gave us star ocean 4 :(.. oh well guess will wait mroe for FFXIII and thank god October is close now cuz it will be the best month since we get Demons Souls,Uncharted 2 and Ratchet and Clank

I think we all do, i dont know what it is but since Squaresoft and Enix have merged the magic that squaresoft games used to have is gone. I dont know if its just me but the games dont feel the same.

I don't have a problem with FFXIII going multi-platform, I have a problem with the way $quare Enix dealt with it.

They had announced FFXIII as "Playstation 3 only" and then backtracked announcing it as coming to Xbox, but instead of saying "look guy's, in this financial climate we gotta do this, they put "Playstation 3 only worldwide" at the end of the versus trailer to make it seem that we mis-interperated what "Playstation 3 only" meant.

They also said that the Xbox port would not delay US / EU PS3 release, but as the translations have been done (VA have been confirmed as complete), it obviously has.

In the end, I don't hate $quare Enix, but I don't trust anything that they say anymore, so screw 'em. As you say, they are a business, I just choose not to do business whith someone who treat their fans like idiots, so I'll be probably be picking this up second-hand.
