I finished Uncharted a month ago. Now started playing Assasin Creed (borrowed it from a friend). So far, I'm very disappointed in Assasin Creed. It has the following short comings besides the repeatitiveness.
1. The graphics: I don't know why lots of poeple say it has great graphics. All characters in this game (except the main one) walks like stick figure, their facial impressions looked almost last gen (read: none existant) compared to that of Uncharted or Heavenly sword.
The landscape is a drab, sparsly populated with dark green trees and grey rocks.
2. Gameplay: Gamespot says it has a great gameplay, but I found its sword play is a push over. All you need to do is defend an attack, then attack attack attack, defend, attack... What the FK is that? It's so shallow that it doesn't even qualify as a regular button smasher (read, even a button smasher game is better than this one).
Now, the other portion of the gameplay is scaling buildings. While gamespot lamented how EASY uncharted platform part is, I can't fathom why it doesn't complain the same thing about assasin creed. Honestly, this game's platform part is the easiest I've ever seen! I've died ONCE only in climbing, that's about it.
3. Story line:
It's a boring version of Matrix + total recall! So boring that I fell a sleep while playing a couple of times. Uncharted however constantly pushes me and I was eager to see what's next.
4. Bias to free roaming world: it's clear to me now that many American critics love free roaming game form blindly. It doesn't matter if a game like Assasin Creed has bad gameplay, so-so story and platforming, super repetitive game strcuture, as long as you can free roam without a sense of direction, a sense of urgency, a sense of accomplishment, then the game must be good!
5. Thank GOD I didn't buy into the hype to buy this game. And thank God I didn't believe Gamespot's review on Uncharted and bought that game.
