I finished Uncharted a month ago. Now started playing Assasin Creed (borrowed it from a friend). So far, I'm very disappointed in Assasin Creed. It has the following short comings besides the repeatitiveness.

1. The graphics: I don't know why lots of poeple say it has great graphics. All characters in this game (except the main one) walks like stick figure, their facial impressions looked almost last gen (read: none existant) compared to that of Uncharted or Heavenly sword.

The landscape is a drab, sparsly populated with dark green trees and grey rocks.

2. Gameplay: Gamespot says it has a great gameplay, but I found its sword play is a push over. All you need to do is defend an attack, then attack attack attack, defend, attack... What the FK is that? It's so shallow that it doesn't even qualify as a regular button smasher (read, even a button smasher game is better than this one).

Now, the other portion of the gameplay is scaling buildings. While gamespot lamented how EASY uncharted platform part is, I can't fathom why it doesn't complain the same thing about assasin creed. Honestly, this game's platform part is the easiest I've ever seen! I've died ONCE only in climbing, that's about it.

3. Story line:
It's a boring version of Matrix + total recall! So boring that I fell a sleep while playing a couple of times. Uncharted however constantly pushes me and I was eager to see what's next.

4. Bias to free roaming world: it's clear to me now that many American critics love free roaming game form blindly. It doesn't matter if a game like Assasin Creed has bad gameplay, so-so story and platforming, super repetitive game strcuture, as long as you can free roam without a sense of direction, a sense of urgency, a sense of accomplishment, then the game must be good!

5. Thank GOD I didn't buy into the hype to buy this game. And thank God I didn't believe Gamespot's review on Uncharted and bought that game.

I thought Assassins Creed was fun for about one week, then it just got really old in a hurry. Every mission is basically the same. The best part of the game is finding the viewpoints and the leap of faith that follows. Uncharted blew it out of the water IMO.

I think everyone has their own preception of this game. I personally couldn't put it down. Its amazing to look at and I enjoyed every second of gameplay it had to offer. I actually just finished it last night. The ending was.......different, but its definitly a cliff hanger and leaves me wanting more. Thats my opinion. Can't wait for the second!

I bought the game after noone i knew had call of duty. I regret that decision greatly. I still think it is a great game. The whole thing is beautiful. I just think that the game is shallow in aspects of tasks and complexity of assassinating the objects. it is the same thing over and over again. I am on 4 block now and i have no desire to finish the game. I hope the next one is worth it. I am debating on trading it in over Shadow of the Colossus. It is that boring to me! I couldnt find uncharted anywhere. maybe that was a GOOD sign.

Yeah, I respect your opinion. But if you think Assassin's Creed's graphics is good, try uncharted. Uncharted's graphics looks 1 year more advanced than assasin's creed.

I agree that Uncharted: Drake's Fortune > Assassin's Creed but I don't agree with some of your points. I like Assassin's Creed. Sure it gets repetitive, but so do most other free roam games (I got bored with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas faster, man I hated that game -_-, hopefully GTAIV is a return to form). The only big flaw that brings it down for me is that too little emphasis is on the actual assassinations, which are IMO the best part of the game besides the easy to use free running.

I haven't played enough of Assassin's Creed to be able to comment on the rest of your points, but the animation in the game is still spot on. Uncharted's may be a bit better, but Assassin's Creed is still very excellent in that department.

Shadow Of Colossus, that's defeinitely a memorable game! But be warned, it's not an easy game. Those giants are.. hard to kill. OH, it has some great scaling the "wall" type of gameplay, which really puts assasin's creed to shame.

Seriously, try Uncharted when you find it. Costco has it on sale for 50 bucks.

It is what it is... but in my opinion you are comparing apples to oranges...

Assassin's Creed was built as a free roaming, do anything adventure...

Uncharted (much like Heavenly Sword) was built to be a cinematic Masterpiece that was intended to be like a movie...

I fully enjoyed Assassin's Creed, but I played it to not let it be repetitive, I have never played more than a single assassination in one sitting, on the converse, I only put down Uncharted once to go to work, and then picked it up as soon as i got home

To me its like comparing Resistance to Stranglehold... Resistance was grand and epic... that even flowed over to the multiplayer from time to time. Stranglehold was just fun to fool around in, which really flowed over into the multiplayer. The games fell under the same Genre even though they were completely different, to me... Uncharted is more like Rainbow Six Vegas than Assassin's Creed is

The best animation of this game is when he rans. Very fluid and natural. But the highly hyped "interaction" with street people are pretty fake. You can see him gentle brash them away with practically only 2 moves, left and right. And when he turn his body to avoid incoming person, you soon realize even if he doesn't turn, there's no way he would've bumped the other guys. Then the illusion wears off and you find he has a total of 2 animations in avoiding incoming poeple.

If i got disapointed by games because they were repetetive... well i would have been disappointed in games since the 80's lol. But i really like Assassins Creed, and graphics being last gen on the other? what exactly did you do to your tv, or try getting the system settings right  .. but yeah, i like it. as i like all the other games i play, even if they are all repetetive Uncharted.. omg! you shoot dudes and freaky monsters (i don't care about spoilers). and you climb around everything. oh my god, COD4 you shoot guys, reload your gun and shoot guys! .. etc. etc. all games are the same all the time. deal with it

INteresting take on this man. Hmm.. to me, a game is meant to entertain. If it entertains me, it's great. If it doesn't, I start go looking for the flaws on why it doesn't entertain me. I guess the biggest disappointment is the structure of this game. The beginning of the game actually has some story that's interesting (not the real world part though), but once the assasination of the 9 starts, boy, it really becomes boring.

If I were the devs, I would make sure all 9 assasination play out very differently. For example, you go assasinate the 3rd guy, then found out that it was the wrong man, or when you are about to assasinate the fifth guy, you found that that guy was not evil at all, and he just saved your life during your 2nd assasination.

Or you could have target 9 helping you killing target 6, then he finds out that he's also your target.

YOu know what I'm getting at? I wish there's some emotional connection or relationship that can be developed between the main guy and the targets. And all the targets have their back stories and relationships with each other. There are soooo many ways to make this game a LOT more interesting.

No, what I meant by last gen is the facial expression on their face. Look at Final Fantasy 12, then look at this game. Their facial expression are in the same league (read: almost none) although assasin has higher polygon count.

As the point of repetitiveness, I'm not talking about the gameplay repetitiveness. I'm talking about the entier game's structure repeatitiveness. That's what killed this game for me.

Trade that game in for uncharted now you'll lose about 30 bucks, but every PS3 owner has to play Uncharted and at the same time purchasing that game purchase Shadow of Collossus that game was epic on the ps2 and it probabley cost 15 bucks used.

I agree with every single point on Assassins Creed. The game is a complete waste. Unfornately, I bought this game on following it for a year, not hype or anything my own choice. Everything looked sweet, who knew they would put the most crappiest twist along with a complete boring story and like you said, it had no sense of interest.

Ubisoft fooled me once, I be damn if they fool me twice.

I personally liked the combat system, It makes me feel superior.. lol. Other than that, i believe they've wasted so much time on the "free-roaming" city, cause there's basically nothing to explore. Some shops, or restaurants or watever would be nice. But there's virtually no reason to walk around. Unless you're trying to find all the flags.

Man, your explaination just nailed the feeling I got about this game's free roaming portion which I wasn't able to articulate into the right word.

In a lot of free roaming games, there are at least other things to see in different part of the game world, but this game's cities feel the same on each and every turn. Wish they've added flare to the cities.

I remember Prince of Persia series, (although I've only played the first one), and that was a sweet game. With good and beautiful environment and a good reason to scale buildings. And its combat although basic, was fun to play. I wonder what happened to the developers when they took that series' idea and made Assasin's Creed. So much of the wonderful part of Prince of Persia were gone.

I sold Assassins Creed a day after I bought it. It was horrible. Good graphics =/= good game. I have played and beaten Uncharted twice and plan on doing it again probably within the next few weeks. It's a great game.

Agreed. You should play Mass Effect if you have a 360. Now that's a game that rivals (if not surpasses) the presentation and narrative of Uncharted.

You either love it or hate it...the repetitiveness and ending eventually turned me off from it...hopefully the sequels will be much better...but I definetly give the edge to Uncharted...that game was amazing!!!!

Well i got Assassins Creed for christmas and i just staretd playing like 2 days ago, so far it is alright, the gameplay is really repetitive and i did fall asleep during the game a couple of times, but for the most part it is alright. Not spectacular in any way, but not bad. I dont got drakes fortune, but i think i may get it, i did love the demo.

I've completed Uncharted and I'm about 60% done on AC. I have to say that Uncharted is FAR supreior.

However, I love the fact that you can climb on almost every building in AC. This makes the platforming a bit more fun than the platforming in Uncharted, where you have to progress on a linear path.

Although I understand most of the reasons people dislike Assassin's Creed, the fact remains that I found it extremely difficult to put down while I was playing. The game was not overly difficult, and task repetition, overstated crowd interaction, bad voice acting for the lead character obviously hurt (I'm not sure I'll be replaying it right away). Maybe I'm alone here, but I found the graphics to be fantastic. Maybe they weren't impressive in that shiny, flashy way most next-gen games come in, but the cities felt so organic. Once you enter a city, there are no load times. The texture work and animations are generally great, especially Altair's climbing as you see his hands and feet grope for every protrusion.

Also, I really liked the combat. It is tactical and timing-based. The TC's comments seem to indicate he never got past the first assassination, because the sword play becomes much more than attack and defend as your various counters, grab breaks, and weapons are unlocked. By the middle of the game, you almost feel like an unstoppable god of a man... and it's great. Besides, how can you ever tire of flying over a gap in the rooftops, leap through the air above an unsuspecting guard, and bury your blade in his neck before he knew you were there... just awesome.

I'll stop now for fear of writing a whole review. But I think people should play the game for a decent period of time before judging. Not the greatest game ever, obviously, but definitely worth a shot.

The reason I do not enjoy as much about the rooftop running thing as I would is because I just played Prince of Percia. And comparing to that game, the platforming portion of this game is ... quite limited. Besides the free roaming, it doesn't feel next gen at all.

Uncharted is FanFreakintastic.

I played AC and while it was good, it def. didnt live up to the hype it is repetitive

and as for the GS review remember AC had ads on this this site hence the 9.0, Uncharted did not hence their 8.0. GS did not give uncharted the review it deserved, that is what I believe.

Uncharted is honestly like you are playing in a movie and it does have great replay Value trying to gain all the medals and reward and such.

Drakes fortune is one of the best games i have ever played!

Assassin's Creed definitely has a lot of potential that wasn't fully realized. I thought it was fun until I played Uncharted. Uncharted was the first game since Resident Evil 3 that I actually sat down and completed in one day. It took me about eight hours and I enjoyed every aspect about it. It's on a whole different level game play wise.

Yeah. Uncharted kept me glued to the seat too. I played as much as I could and finished the game in 3 to 4 days. Then I found that I can revert the image of the game so that everything is on the opposite side (say a house that's used to be on the left now is on the right. A road that used to extend to the left, now extends to the right), and I started playing it again.

I'm still playing Assasin's Creed right now. I can only play it in a burst of short time so that I don't get bored. I play a couple of missions a day so that the game will stay fresh. By this rate, it will probably take me a few weeks to finish it. hehe.

It took me about three weeks to finish Assassin's Creed of on-and-off play. Every now and then I would pick it up and completely finish one assassination in a memory block and then stop. It seemed more like work than fun after the third memory block.
