Nothing is known so far except a few facts:

- coming out between April 31st 2010 to March 31st 2011

- starz Ezio

- ends where the next game picks off

- multiplayer

- not necessarily a sequel

- all new title

- not an expansion

I think this will be great - Uncharted 2 came out with multiplayer and basically everyone but me (or what felt like) was excited for it, and it turned out to be awesome (for the most part), and Ubisoft I'm starting to have faith in. Thoughts on what it could be? I can't find the link now 'cos I read it earlier but will get it straight away - I can confirm though that this is all true and will update with the link when I find it (within the next few minutes).

http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/106/1060705p1.html Exact text from article, for those who do not wish to read it: US, January 13, 2010 - During Ubisoft's updated 2009 fiscal third quarter results this morning, it was revealed that a new episode of Assassin's Creed will be released in its fiscal 2011 year, which begins on April 2010, and will include an online multiplayer mode. Ubisoft also noted its new Ghost Recon and Driver titles will be out during the same time period. "The 2010-11 fiscal year will see a greater number of franchise releases than fiscal year 2009-10, including Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction, a new game in the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series, Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands, Driver, Raving Rabbids 4 and a new episode of Assassin's Creed, which will be the first in the series to have an online multiplayer mode," the statement reads. The update did not provide additional details on this new Assassin's Creed episode, such as a release date or if this mode is part of the two expansion downloads Ubisoft plans to roll out in early 2010 for Assassin's Creed 2. Ubisoft also noted that Assassin's Creed II has now sold over 6 million units worldwide, and expects that number to climb to 9 million by March 2010. IGN has contacted Ubisoft for clarification and will update this story when we hear back. Update: Ubisoft has clarified, saying this is a new title featuring Ezio, and is not an expansion for Assassin's Creed 2. The new online multiplayer mode will be for an entirely new Assassin's Creed product. The Assassin's Creed Episodes project will pick up where Assassin's Creed 2 left off.

Interesting. Ubisoft appears to be milking AC2 for all its worth. Not only did they cut out a section of thegame (akaDNA strandfile was "corrupted")to be sold as downloadable content, now their releasing multiplayer capabilities. That sounds like an interesting addition, but it makes me think that ACII was released as an unfinished game just so it could be in time for the Christmas season. Great marketing tactics, but I really don't like paying more for content that (maybe) should have been included in the original game.

Milking means getting as much out of Assassins Creed as possible. They have release two games... not counting DS/PSP versions. I can count probably over 100's of games that have over 3 games. And the other strands were pieces they did not finish on purpose till the end of the game, to sell for DLC. The thing is, nobody is ever going to be happy. Sure, they could release it this week with that DLC in, but it's a neverending cycle - they could just not release it ever and just keep adding new things. If your logic is that it's an unfinished game, then you need to start playing something like an MMO, since games, forever, will have things missing. In case ya don't understand what I'm on about: Assassins Creed 2 could come out when it did without the DLC. Assassins Creed 2 comes out 2 months later, with DLC. They delay again to add new costumes. They delay again to add new weapons. They delay again to fix another bug. They delay again to add a new map. They delay again to add another chapter. Etc etc. There is no limit to what can be added, and a developer has to stop at a point and just say the product is finished.

This seems to be a bit of ryrulez and adzi only talk :P Nah, there's a lot of potential in AC. Like a castle or something like that, one team plays the guardians, one team plays assassins. Just a bit like the multiplayer in Splinter Cell. And if I remember correctly both are made by Ubisoft so I hope they might take some of Splinter Cell's multiplayer elements.

Eh @ having Eizo again as main character. I hope that isn't true really. Nothing against him as he was a decent hero character, but I thought they wanted to do someone new and possibly a woman? Also, is it gonna be in the same time period?

What? A woman? O_o Sorry but that fails at immersion TWICE. I can accept to play a woman as main character but can Desmond too? :?

Well not everyone can be Ezio, and it'snot confirmed for multiplayer only. I expect there to be a whole new story for Ezio and continuation, and then the main part of the game is multiplayer. And I agree with you Uran, because Splinter Cell sounded so great when it came out!

It was a lot of fun to play Splinter Cell in multiplayer. With the mercs protecting different objectives and the spies had to get those objectives. This could really work out for AC fantasticly. Like 4 assassins have to go into a castle and 4 guardians have to protect some guy or different documents stuff like that. Though I guess it would be more fair for the guardians if they control one sergeant or stuff like that and got 2 easier guards following them. Like those mercs you could hire in AC2. And some archers on walls and towers so it's not too easy for the assassins :P

I guess the multi-player is a nice addition, but I really only care about the single player. I'll have to see more info and videos before I decide.

I dont think they're milking it. Not with the DLC, and not with this sequel because thay haven't announced if it even is for PS3/360. The DLC, as clearly stated by the devs, doesn't even have to do with the main story and they felt that the game would've been too long and overstayed it's welcome, which I feel is true. I rather have sequences 12/13 as DLC.

Now that UC2 has shut me up, I'm willing to see how this will pan out, although I'm curious as to how they'll do it.

God! Why do good series have to go to multiplayer, it doesn't need online play. Single player is what it should be played as, same with most games.

I think I've seen you on mw2 lol , is your psn the same as your nick plus a number? (just out of curiosity)

On thread , I wish they added mp2 feature on AC2 I cause If they made an online only game I wouldn't buy , if they made a stripped down AC2 just to feature MP I wouldn't buy and If they made an AC2 with MP(on disk) but didn't make it downloadable for those who already have it ( a la star wars sith edition) I wouldn't buy too , so unless they make AC3 with a lot of improvements AND MP I don't see myself enjoying the idea without feeling ripped off :?

Why does everyone complain still? Was Uncharted 2, aguably, the best game of the year? It really frustrates me when people say this because it only shows ignorance :(

M0wen10
... why? Give us a reason. Uncharted 2 is a single player and will remain that way for a long time, forever, but the multiplayer was exceptional. " Single player is what it should be played as, same with most games." Like I said in my previous post, all that shows is utter ignorance.
