Fathers are to blame if the children imitate what they see in game/TV/cinema. teaching them what's right and what's wrong is very important to avoid some kind of unwanted behavior. Of course that a kid that is 5 years old shouldn't play GTA...

"video games made my teenage son kill half of the school with a shotgun". The hell they did. 1st of all WTH were you doing when you were suppose to teach him right and wrong. Secondly,do you really think that a video game can affect a teenage boy that way? Well, maybe he is retarded...

Why don't people blame TV and cinema for all the acts of violence? They have been around for much longer.

Leave us, the mentally sane gamers in peace and go blame some else.

they've got their fair share of blame aswell.. but i agree with you on the other points. don't blame the tv/video/games, blame the parents who can't teach their kids right and wrong.. and still if the games/movies are to blame, you still should blame the parents for "letting" their kids watch it. the excuse "it doesn't matter what i do, my son/daughter will still see the game/movie" feels so old..

if a KID goes to a school with a shotgun and kills a bunch of people i think you should blame the person who sold him the shotgun/his parents for having a shotgun/ the people who make shotguns.

a kid can play any violent game, watch any violent tv show, be treated with violence, but he will NEVER be able to harm people unless he has a weapon

the fact that people are allowed to carry and sell firearms are the reason why this kind of stuff happens.

if only the police could have weapons nothing like this would ever happen

video games are active while films are passive form of media. while i don't believe video games turn people violent i do believe they at least somewhat heighten the aggressiveness of already violent people. the argument that video games cause violence is just plain ludicrous in my opinion.

what about wars, how can we teach our children that violence is not the answer when we can not do the same.

also on a side note i don't think politician and parents would ever look at a video game forum lol.

Politicians are out there to win votes, and parents don't want to spend the time with their children to adequately teach them morals and ethics. They believe schools should teach sex ed, right and wrong, and all other aspects of how to be a good person when mom and dad are the two most important figures in a child's life. Maybe they don't have time for their children cuz they both work, but in doing so it sacrifices the child's rearing. If only people got it

You know me man, i've always said to blame the parents. If games was the reason for everything, why am i not running around slapping my friends with a car key because someone threw a rock a Goofys head? (Kingdom Hearts 2) Thank god i have great parents

Unfortunate true ..more and more parents buy consoles to keep they're sons occupied ..so they don't have to give them so much attention.

People slaughtered each other evenin the days before video games and movies too. I dont think Hitler played GTA, but he grew up to be considered the very epitome of evil and suffering in the world. Humans are naturally violent, we are animals. Video games and movies can stimulate in a certain way and make some people get "hints" or "ideas" how to execute violence, but actually committing these violent acts requires a human that is in deep touch with their own inner beast. There is mostly a lot of rage within those who commit those acts, some people lack the ability to think consequently. Video games are a part of the problem(microscopic part IMO), I acknowledge that, but it is most certainly not the main source.

I've read if you play games you get out your anger at the game, so games help people get less aggressive. Example: Your girlfriend just broke up and you are really angry for this, and suddenly you feel like playing GTA, you play GTA and kill lots of people IN the game and when you stop playing you are as aggressive as a20 year oldguy who just who 5 million bucks. Think about that.

So do I. I played lots of violent games, saw lots o violent and gory films and you don't see me running around with a chainsaw cutting people heads of.

I agree. When I am angry I go and play some counter Strike or some GTA and let my anger flow out of the body. Some people use a punching bag, others play games and some kill real people to fell less angry. I sure prefer a punching bag or kill people VIRTUALLY!

I am sick and tired of earing parents saying "my son is getting violent thanks to video games!" Then don't buy them in the effin 1st place!! i see lots of parents buying GTA to 8 year old kids! WTF IS THIS? parents, before blaming anything or anyone, blame yourselves for not spending time educating your young and teaching them how the world works.

Another thing : Having easy access to guns. Stop that. it's stupid.

everyone wants someone to blame. why not blame the thing that gives the most entertainment to people? this is what goes through their heads. i think parents and politicians blame video games because they dont understand it and write it off so quickly because they dont understand.

im with you all the way man

Its not the fault of video games when a kid or someone kills someone, it is the fault of the parent. Parents regularly backlash this form of the media, while instead they can be teaching good values to their children. If you ask the parents, they are probably very distant from the child, and are the ones who buy the games for them.

I am going to leave this alone because this isn't a political website. So please leave your politics to yourself.

I do agree that a child shouldn't even have access to a weapon and video games are not to blame for violence. Parents should be involved in their childrens' lives and know what is happening with them. Most parents don't pay any attention to their kids. It's not because they don't love them but because life is so fast paced. They get so distracted by their own lives that they forget about their childrens' lives.

I agree with your points however I believe also that the games do put kids ideas into their heads, the same way movies, tv etc do, especially for young kids of impressionable age that can easily find people (albeit fictional) to look up to and respect easily.

Anyway, I'm talking bollocks mostly as I don't have childeren (the same applies for some of you here), nor did I have computer games untill the age of 11/12, and only 18 rated games at the age of 15. Not to mention that if I did do/say anything bad I would have been spanked + well disciplined :D

I PLAY ALL games (including Manhunt 2) and I don't see myself doing those things... I actually do the "Hot Coffee" more than what happens in the games... but there's none of that in games.

This reminds me when GTA III came out some Bible bashers came to our house gave us magazine and it said Reports of a 12 year old boy playing Grand theft auto supposedly during play the boy killed a crap load of civilians then chased a man into a back alley and said " got you now B****" and blew his head off and i was like Ha ha YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
