This "fan test" that everyone is freaking out about is rubbish. And it's placing undue stress on your console.

There will never EVER be any test which requires ANY SORT of physical manipulation of your PS3. Every aspect of your PS3 was designed under the assumption that the system is in the normal vertical or horizontal position. If you place the system in anything other than the normal vertical or horizontal position, you're doing it wrong.

If there WERE any such thing as a fan test, you can be sure it would be initiated through an option on the XMB.

What do you think you're testing for? If your system fails the test are you going to adjust your fan settings? NO! You're not! Because you can't! This is why we can't have nice things.

How about trying to converse with people without calling them morons? Is there really a need to call people morons? Trust me, more people will take you seriously if you talk with them without acting like a high and mighty jerk.;)

I tend to tune out the noise. Dust isn't an issue for me...
