So I basically have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to audio input, connectors, etc. I have a Sharkoon Xtatic Universal headset and I'm trying to get the audio to work through the TOSlink/optical out thing on the ps3. I can used the rca cables that came with it and I've been doing that but since that won't work with the ps4 I'm trying to get audio another way so I don't have to buy a whole new headset. So is it possible to get audio through the digital audio output thing?

I purchased this Toslink-to-Mini cable and this 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm Audio Coupler, and tried connecting the two then the headset to that but I'm not getting any audio. I have no idea what I'm doing, so can anyone help?

I know the headset won't work on the ps4, well the mic won't right? But I should still be able to get audio through a headset, so I just want to know how. Thanks.

It has the same digital audio output as the ps3, but I couldn't get audio through that either, atleast not using the connectors I put in the first post. I could be using the wrong cable but I have no idea. It seems like a good cable so any way I can still use that would be great.

The connector cable I'm talking about: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088IBRJE/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then if i understand what you are saying your tv has a optical out then you should be able to connect your optical tos cable to the back of your tv and hear sound out of it. if your head set or amp you use has different settings than your tv outputs it will not work or will be downgraded to stereo. I know for my tv I had to select what out put it would use. Something i tried was setting it up threw my stereo system it had an out for optical.

I tried connecting the Toslink-to-Mini cable to a female to female audio coupler and connected my headset to that but get no sound. I messed with both my tv's and the ps3's audio settings after but get no sound. Am I missing something or have the wrong connectors?

So I need an amp? I don't know anything about these connections so I didn't know I needed something.
