I'm stuck between getting the first Dead Space or the upcoming AVP. I want to know which one is more likely to be scarier, have better graphics, more hours of gameplay(single player only), and is going to be overall just more fun. After looking back on dead space i thought it looked like a good game which is why im considering it now. Does anyone know if it has good replay value?

P.S.- Can anyone tell me if the AVP marine's weapons will have gun zoom.(Where you look down the sights like in COD4)

I'd wait for reviews on AVP as it could be hit or miss. However, dead space is a great game and is pretty cheap so it's worth checking out.

Also, for future reference check out the recommendations thread for any what game should I get questions.:)

Dead Space. If you've got a good home theater system, that game is awesome!

Dead Space is very, very good, and $20. I'd go with that, myself. :P AVP has potential that may or may not be realized. It's a wait and see game for me...

Get Dead Space. That game is phenomenal. You'd be doing yourself a favor by getting it as soon as possible.

How is this even a decision? Dead Space is a great game and it's been out long enough for it to be very cheap (like $18.99). AVP isn't even out yet. And when it comes out, it will be $59.99. Why not just go out and get Dead Space right now??? Then worry about whether to buy AVP later.

Uh... Dead Space - well reviewed and now $20. New, as yet un-reviewed game - $60. By the time you finish Dead Space, AvP might be $50. I'll go with the cheaper one on this.

You won't get much replay value out of Dead Space. I only played it 3 times until I unlocked all the achievements for the 360. If you can buy it used and cheap for around $20 then I'd say get it, but if you can't get it cheap then don't bother.

It's a great game, but at this point since you don't have it, it's really not worth the full price to buy it.

The last truly great game that had a lot of replay value with no online was RE4 IMO, a game so great that I bought it on both the GC and PS2 and beat it over 20 times combined on each system. I don't know what made me love RE4 so much considering I shared a lot of sympathies with hardcore RE fans who didn't like the new mechanics to the game, but I couldn't denounce RE4 based on my love of the old school RE games because I loved the game so much.

Dead Space is a great game. Its sort of where RE should go if Capcom wants it to be an action game. Not this in between limbo that RE5 was.

RE5 wasn't a bad game, but it was very disappointing compared to my experience I had with RE4. I have some hopes for the DLC though due out soon, unfortunately I'm a long time RE fan, have been for 12 years so I'll buy anything RE, even if I know it sucks. However I didn't buy Outbreak 2 after I realized Outbreak sucked too much for me too handle.

I even bought Dead Aim for God's sake, but my standards were high enough not to buy Survivor.

Well obviously, let's see where Dead Space 5 is 12 years from now, I doubt it will retain the same atmosphere as the first game.

Yeah, he should get it if he can get it that cheaply. There's no reason not too. If it's more $30 though, I'd pass on it. I bet the 360 version is cheaper than the PS3 version. So if you can get it for the 360, then I would. I'm not a fanboy and wouldn't want someone wasting their money, though I haven't played my 360 for probably 6 months now due to the fact the PS3 has been cranking out some great games lately.

Point being? I'm commenting on wtsfld's assertion that Dead Space is more action oriented then RE5.

Dead Space rocked. Ive never really had the pleasure of being freaked out by a game but the atmosphere is solid. As for AvP, I'd like to give it a go but with so many other upcoming games like FFXIII, Dante's Inferno, GoW3 and Bioshock 2 I'll prob miss out. Plus there's the fact that it was initially refused classification in Australia, therefore giving it the sort of attention and notoriety publishers can only dream of. We'll have to wait for the reviews.

I would play dead space now while it's cheap. I've got AvP paid off, and I'm hyped for it, but Dead Space is a proven commodity.

I rented Dead Space, beat it, it was fun, pretty good game, I wouldn't buy it though, but if you don't get it deffinately rent it sometime. Alien vs Predator will be something unique and fresh I think, both from a singleplayer and multiplayer perspective. I think it'll have a lot more replay value and that you'd have a blast with it.
