awful graphics

hey ive been noticing, with even the newest psp releases, the graphics arent improving at all. I realize that it the discs are small and can only hold a small bit of pixels but you would think with such a small screen the graphics would be a little better. I think crash bandakoot #1 for the ps1 had better graphics. Any thought towards why this might be please post.

Well, that is the problem. The discs might not be big, but the games still don't even take up half the space. I don't remember numbers, but GTA:LCS. Has a good sized world, lots of things to do, doesn't lag that much except for glitches sometimes. Doesn't even take half the disc. So, A. they either need to make the games longer with more content and stuff, or B. keep the games the way they are, just use more space to make graphics and textures better.

So, I don't really know what my answer is... =/

What PSP games are you getting? Daxter looks miles and miles better than Crash. So does Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, Syphon Filter, Killzone: Liberation and a ****load of other games.

Yeah this will be the game that change people perception on handheld!!I think the graphic is kinda nice for a handheld...As long as the game is entertaining than it is fine.......

meh... graphics were never an issue for me. Some games actually look as good as PS2.

Graphics is simply cosmetics for games. There are games with excellent looking graphics, but terrible gameplay and vice versa. Gameplay is the foundation of gaming. I could almost care less if a game looks "pretty" on screen. I really don't see what your complaining about. As the graphicsfor PSP games were a surprise to me. I didn't t think games like Syphon Filter, and Tekken could have looked any better on handhelds. Sounds more like whining than anything. The PSP is the premiere handheld to own. It does so much for very little price. I am happy I own one.

UMD discs can hold 1.8gb of data. That's more than enough for a portable, and I've rarely seen a game come close to using the entire disc anyways. Point is, there are plenty of new games that look absolutely gorgeous for a handheld machine. If graphics are your priority, there are lots of new games just around the corner will push it to its limits.Jorlen

I agree with you both...this IS a HANDHELD! What do you want? A portable 360 with Blu-Ray movies and 7.1 THX Surround? Look at the ORIGINAL Game Boy, The Game Boy Color, hell, even the Game Boy Advance...the PSP is an enormous jump in graphical capability. Quit your b!tch!n' and enjoy your games. I have over 50 titles for my PSP and I'm blown away by the graphics for each and every one. Even something as simple as Lumines 2 having music videos playing in the background while you play the game is incredible to me. Be thankful for what we've got and respect where we came from.

Err... What games are you talking about? I dont recall any games looking like PS1 games, most are on par with the PS2 or even better, for example Tekken, Ridge Racer, Wipeout, Syphon Filter, Daxter etc etc.

I guess I don't know anything then. Why don't you enlighten us all by telling us which other handheld currently on the market has better graphics than the PSP.

the problem it's not the umd's, the problem , beacuse the biggest games i've seen so far are 1200 mg wich is like 60% and it was beacuse they were long. i think the problem it's technical the psp has a 4mb memory , that'it , since the screen it's little you are not gonna ask for a video card, but i think that if they woudl have charged like 20 bugs more or 30 an made the psp with 8 or 16 of memory things would have been really diferent.

and also some other stuff like the read speed for example more graphics means more data being read wich means a more efficent reader.

well i hope god of war or gran turismo mobile wichare games thatalways had good graphics prove me wrong

You have no idea what you're talking about. Anyways most PSP games don't take up even half of the disk, so it's more about processing power.

Look at the new God of War game.

Well the psp may have a small screen but it actually renders at a higher resolution than the ps1; compare 320x240 to 480x272.

I don't know if you have played Crash lately, but I think if you did, you would not agree with your original statement. It has often happened to me where I reminisced over a beautiful game only to play it again, and realize it looks pretty darn bad.

But yeah, I hope as much as you for improved graphics. And after GoW, I think GT will be the next game to marvel at - assuming it comes out, at all.

Looks like you havent played MPO or Ace Combat X, cause PSP graphics are credible awsome, and incredible awsome for a handheld system.

I have formuled with your post that you do NOT have a PSP, you just semi-watched a clandestine game for the psp.

Since not all graphics for psp games are equal, you will need to be specific with the games your refering to when making a statement such as this. Maybe you tend to buy more of the crap games than most.

The graphics always looked fine to me, except for pursuit force 1 and 2

Remember this is a handheld system 1/4 size PS1, Mega Drive, SNES and has 10 times better graphics.

In comparision to other handhelds i.e GBA & DS, in my opinion the PSP is far superior - no contest.

All the games I have, I'm blown away at the graphics of the PSP for example God of War Chains of Olympus.

Possibly you have downloaded PS1 games from PSN for your PSP.
