Background noise on the official headset...

Just wondering is there any way to turn down the sensitivity on the offical headset? It's picking up everything. It picks up the audio from my TV even though it's as low as I can put it and still hear it, it picks up nearly any move I make and anybody talking in the background. I really wish it required a push to talk function, or at least an optional push to talk function. I can only imagine how annoying it is for everyone else in the game. I've tried muting it until I need to talk, but it couldn't be any more annoying with it bleeping every 5 seconds to remind me I've muted it

yeah it gets pretty annoying when you can hear explosions and what not through the headset. I have been using an older headset i got for the ps2 its wired and it still works great.
