I've got a 60 GB PS3 and the HDD is now at capacity. Even when I deleted the little music I had on there (I had no videos or anything), it wasn't enough - I ended up having to delete some game data (not game save data, more like installation data) to make room for some of the games I've bought in recent months. I'm now considering investing in an external HDD so I can back up my data. As it turns out, I work at Wal-Mart, and they sell some decent sized HDDs that plug into a USB port, so I thought about buying one of those. Does anyone know if that will work, or does it have to be a specific model, or must I connect the PS3 to my PC?

Just get a 500g HDD for the ps3 and replace the one youve got, then get an external case for 20 bucks and you have a 60gig external. Thats what i did.

Oh and yes, they will work, but they need to be formatted in fat32.
