There was a 40gb Metal Gear Solid Bundle, and an 80gb bundle, were these backwards compatible?

-Thanks

Actually, you've got it backward. The 40GB bundle was not, the 80GB bundle was backwards compatible.

If it's 40, it's not B/C. If it's 80 and came with Motorstorm or MGS4, it's backwards compatible. If it's 20 or 60 and used, it's backwards compatible. Everything else... you're stuck.

Is there any disadvantage to these models that are backwards compatible?

None that I know of. They also have 4 USB ports and some media card slots that got taken away when they redesigned the motherboard for the 40GB, the current 80GB, and the 160GB PS3.

Alright, thanks. In your opinions, if found, is those 80gb bundles worth the $500 price tag?

-Thanks

If you know that you're going to be using all the features then they're definately worth it...if you can do without backward compatibility, media card slots and so on, then definately go for the cheaper option.

Backwards compatibility is not worth it unless its true BC like the 20 or 60GB. Software emulation is terrible and should never have been done for the PS3 at all. Hell Sony should have never made any models outside of the 60GB in the first place. It was the perfect SKU and Sony would have faired better I feel if they hade a less confusing line up for the consumer instead of switching and removing features every couple of months and leaving people wondering what the hell they are buying. The fact that this far after it's release people are still confused by the 40GB goes to show how much Sony has failed. The 20, 40, 80, and 160GB models should have never existed. The 60GB had every single feature ever put into the PS3 and with upgradeable HDD its options were endless. The pricing was too steep but instead of cuttin features I think it would have been more effective to wait it out untill production costs were down for the the technology instead of cheating late adopters out of features.
