Okay yesterday I went to the local LAN center and played Resistance Fall of Man on their 52 inch screens.

And I gotta say the game looked terrible and everything looked pixelized on the screen that I couldn't really stand to suffer through such a failure of a machine any longer then 30 mins. So I wanna know if the machine makes games look terrible on purpose so they can force you to buy a HD cable to enjoy the machine? or if it is like that with pretty much most of its games? or was there some other factor that I don't know about which made the game look so crappy?

lawl that is the first time ever being called a troll. And since when did trollers put time into their posts?

And yes I am serious. I just wanted to know if the LAN center here screwed up rigging the machine. Or if it doesn't look as good on a 52 inch as compared to a 27 inch for an example. So if someone could answer this it would be nice. Because I am hyped for MGS4 though I don't want to be disapointed if it looks crappy. And if it is the rig I want to know. If so tell me how to make it look better. So then I could go to the LAN center and help the guy rig it up properly so then more people can be impressed by the PS3 instead of being disapointed while watching someone else on it and never bother trying it out unless its for free.

It may have been the rig. For example... I use to play 360's Perfect Dark zero on a 15" CRT Monitor ( I wanted to try teh VGA Cables out. ) It looked great with no jaggies. On my new20.1" widescreen LCD, i notice more jaggies. So maybe the screen size is reponsible.

I think it's the TV or something because the same thing happens when I play the PS3 at walmart, but on my SD TV, it looks freakin' amazing and on my friends 1080i rear projection TV, it looks just plain phenominal. Also, in the past I've seen Xbox and PS2 games looking really, really ridgey on the flat panel TVs at Gamestop for some reason. So just don't let that effect you, I've seen that happen tons of times at stores and stuff but never in any home set-ups.

So then I should be recommanding the owner to go pick up a couple set of those HD cables so it can take advantage of the true power of the PS3? or is there some kind of option in the PS3 menu or in thte TV settings that could correct this problem?

Check what cables he was usuing. Also was it a 52" HDTV or SDTV? IF it was an HDTV, see if he was using HDMI.

I guess, but if someone is a Wii fanboy for example, chances are they wont have a PS3 or 360.

I am a fan of all systems, that is why I own a 2 NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, 4 Dreamcasts, 2 Xboxs (because one is almost dead), PS2 and in a few monthes a 360 and possibly a PS3 next year if some better games come out. So if you can tell me what game company I prefer please do tell since its kinda hard for me to tell :/

And I just called up the place and they said they use HDMI cables with their LG Tv's or the soon to be used TV's since the guy is taking his larger screen from LG home and replacing them with 32 inchs.

First, they might be fanboys or idiots.

Second (in yellow) failure of a console?  Just using that phrase makes me think you have other motives.  Anyways even if that problem existed it would'nt have been Sony's fault but the software devs.  However it's not, and Sony (a hardware manufacturer) would never put out a system that  would look worse than  it's previous (consoles).

Before I picked on the PS3 and made pretty much all the obvious jokes about it people are doing nowadays. So me and my friend decided to try it out to see if those jokes we passed around about the system not being so good were true or not. But after trying it out at that LAN center it kinda left a bad impression on us. But personally I give machines a second chance. That is how I got my Xbox then my PS2 a few years later. Now I love my PS2 more then my xbox. But anyways back on topic. I want to know how I can fix this problem and see if I can help out the LAN center to get more people to look at the PS3 and say stuff like "wow it does actually look good maybe everyone else was wrong".

adjust the TV correctly, use HDMI on a quality TV, and set up the PS3 video settings correctly. if R:FOM looks bad, then its something besides the ps3 and game, cause that game is jaw dropping for a launch title. http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/748/748483/imgs_1.html look at those, and see what it really looks like

No system in particular. More of an "Every system but Sony's" kind of fanboy. I could be wrong. But its just the way you worded your original post. You came off just basically saying Resistance looked like garbage. You definitely could have worded it better.

Yea I know I could have worded it better looking back at it now :/ And I like sony that is why I am still working on my PS2 collection before it gets canceled. But anyways stop harassing me with these pointless posts and give me some advice, if not shut up and save your breath for something else that actually matters XP

best advice... Tell your lan comapny to use HDMI with a quality TV that is calibrated, and by the time all that comes around then some more KILLER APPS will be out. Also, if your looking for a console, personally I find the Sony systems to have a bigger taste of games that appeal to me. I'm planning on buying a 360 in a few months, but i'm glad i got a launch PS3, no problems as of yet. (Knock on wood)

I have a 52" Panasonic LCD projection TV (hooked up with RCA HDMI cables)....Resistance (which I own) looks amazing....if your seeing jaggies the TV may be set at 480i or something, if thats not it, then the TV it was watched on is garb.
