http://au.ps3.ign.com/articles/894/894612p1.html (sorry, can't link on this computer)

from article:

"In other Aussie news, we have the local take on the video download service partnership announcements made at E3. Sadly, the news is not good. Video downloads aren't coming to Australian PS3s any time soon. While Sony Australia is committed to bringing the service out here, for the moment its focus is on other aspects of PSN."

basically, we won't be seeing PSN video store for a while, especially since the European and Aussie stores are identical.

However there is some good news, the PS3 is selling strong. However if this is the case, why not please the fans?

the reasons why we might have to wait is because of the high cost of bandwidth and coz of high cost in licensing. Movies i assume would be around 4 to 7 gig depending on HD or SD to download, most australians have a monthly quata of 10gig, which is considered "unlimited" here. So we have to limit ourselves to say 2 movies a month lol

I just do not understand why the EU,AU and US stores cannot be excatly the same, we all use english as our main language and it has nothing do with localisation since other european stores use other languages(obviously) and PS3 is region free so it bugs me why we get everything like 6 months later.

I shouldnt bring up the competitors but on the 360 we get 95% of content the same day we get all xbla games the same days demos etc, the only thing we had to wait for on 360 was the movies, where as i had to wait months for echo chrome and everyday shooter just to name a few.

Seems like both japanese companies treat the EU as "second class" anything we get is always allot later than JP,U.S and then they charge us twice as much its a lose lose situation.

At least on psn we can download the demos from the U.S store but i just wish i could buy them also.

Well in this case, different territory means they need to acquire the license of said programme(TV or movies) for the other regions. Maybe the license is easier to get in the US.

But yeah, Sony should considered the rest of the world that are supporting them more than the US.
