Bad News For Rock Band......Already.

According to IGN the Guitar Hero III controller is not compatible with Rock Band. It was believed by many, including IGN, to work.

So, it is not possible to have four people play together, unless you want to buy another Rock Band bundle.

Hopefully they fix this immediately after launch. What are your thoughts?

Hmm lemme think, Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3, different devs rite? What dev would be stupid enough to A) Waste the time to make it copatible and B) Give the competition another reason why you might as well buy the guitar from theM/johnnythegamer2

THIS SUCKS!!! I bought this game and Guitar Hero to get 4 controllers!!! Harmonix knew that every PS3 owner would get stiffed and still... they wait until IGN plugs the *** thing in to see that it isn't compatible! I know they're competitors, but how are we supposed to play the ******* game? They better fix in 2 days. That's when I get it.

Your point makes sense, but the fact that the Guitar Hero III controllers for Xbox360 work for Rock Band, and the PS3 GHIII controllers do not, does not make any sense.

Also, I would bet that most of the people who are going to buy Rock Band are not just buying it to play the guitar. Several reviews have stated that the guitar is a lot easier than GHIII. Finally, Rock Band is being advertised as this multi-player experience, and every review states that the only fun part of the game to play solo is the drums.

Yes it pushes multiplayer but allowing you to join a band and do it all online means you really only need one instrument. That means people who just want to play guitar can be in a band online and all they need is a guitar which they would have had with the GH3 Les Paul. It might just be my opinion though.

The singstar microphones are not compatible with the Karaoke revolution microphones. There is precedent here. There is money to be made in the peripheral market or else there would not have been that lawsuit concerning the third party guitars for Guitar hero 2. It sucks but it's the truth. Greed rules all.

I completely agree, everyone is out to make money, that is their goal. But, what you failed to see is that the GHIII controllers for the Xbox 360 work for Rock Band. "The reasoning for this is unclear, since the GHIII controller works fine with Rock Band on Xbox 360" (IGN). So why would they make the GHIII controller for the PS3 incompatible? It does not make sense.

If the 360 GHIII controllers did not work for Rock Band, I would not care, but they do and it does not make sense, and there has yet to be an explanation offered.

1. It works for the X360.

2. They don't sell guitars individually, so unless you have two bundles, you CANNOT form a 4 people band.

I got that request when I bought my PS3 at launch.

Bummer for you I guess. I'm lucky to have preordered the 360 version so my GH2 guitar will work for the Bass. I really glad I didn't go with the PS3 version now.

FYI I updated my PS3 with the newest firmware last night and update it EVERYTIME there is a firmware update. Think before you say something stupid. As I said, when I put the disc in the drive, it told me that I had to upgrade THE GAME to version 1.01.

The box says 1-4 co-op. This was advertised as working in an interview with one of the developers. Its in excuscusable.

I won't know if it works or not until my friend who had GH3 comes over tonight. Other than that, it's a pretty fun game even without a bass player. Way deeper than GH3.
