Alright.
There are loooaaaadss of possibilities. The first ones you are likely to hear recommended are: God of War, Crisis Core and Monster Hunter.
Having only played a demo of GOW and not played Crisis Core at all..I can't tell u whether they are good or not but I have to tell you about Monster Hunter.
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 Is highly addictive! It is pretty much an RPG but it plays like an adventure game. The setting is basically that you are in a village, you can roam around it, maybe do farming, chat to the people...etc. Whenever you like you can go on quests to either collect items or hunt monsters! (hence the name).
So...There are loaaads of monsters to kill and lots of locations to do it in. From killing thingsyou can level up and carve the monsters bodies to gain hide, fangs, claws, bones...etc. With these you can get a guy in the village to make you armour or weapons and you also get rewards from the completion of quests. And so basically, you do this process over and over and over...It's really enjoyable!!! The game deserves at least 8.5/10. There is a remake of it but its only in japanese. I would rate that one 9.5/10. ;) So, I would definately recommend Monster Hunter. :) Anyway, Theres thousands of other PSP games...don't just take my recommendations.. see what other people think too. ;)
Good luck with your game purchasing.

I kinda doubt MHF2 is an RPG since it does not meet some of a game's requirements to pass as an RPG. An rpg has these elements in the game: character development, grand story and grand adventure. Strictly speaking, MHF2 does not meet any of these but has elements that may be similar to this.
CharDev: on mhf2, it's the items that improve you. This can pretty much be a definition for chardev but the differences in stats and skills in-game are very unpermanent. They are just like equips like in an action game like Metal Gear, only that MHF series just has thousands of items.
Grand Story: MHF2 has none.
Grand Adventure: means there should be some travel involved or some move within countries or territories while going through the story line if there was any. MHF2 just has big "stages" where you hunt and gather items.
So MHF2 should be under the Action Genre (emphasis on fighting) if not Action Adventure (sword games with a little bit of travel are generally referred to as adventure games while fighting with usually ranged modern weaponry are considered shooter games O_o)
Now dont get me wrong here as MHF2 is on top of my list for PSP games (Crisis Core comes a close second with Killzone LIberation following it). The great part is, whatever genre MHF2 is going to be categorized in, it is still clearly one of the best games for the hardcore gamer world
As my topic reply, I'd recommend of course Monster Hunter Freedom 2 together with Crisis Core, Prince of Persia Rival Swords, GoW and Kingdom of Paradise.
