I prefer the L1 & R1 combination on a Sixaxis or Dual Shock 3 for shooters, it feels natural that way IMO. I think that the perfect controller layout is the Call Of Duty scheme. What about you?

L1 + R1 is the better choice, because the L2 + R2 have a chance on slippage, which I don't like.

I don't know if you're talking about the first Killzone, but in Killzone 2 you can change the controls. If I'm not mistaken I think it's called "Alternate 2" or something.
I'm used to R1 + L1, but I decided to get used to Killzone with R3 + R1, because of the way I hold the controller, it's hard using R1 + L1 then pressing L2 to cover and on top of that aim lol.

I figured that much, it's just that I wanted to know since there are some games coming out that still don't offer the player the option for remapping your controller (I'm looking at you FEAR 2).
L1 + R1 due to how the sticks are placed it's more comfy using L1 and R1 because you can reach and still have full control. With R2 and L2 it becomes a bit harder to aim. And R3 is just annoying.
I used to like the R3/R1 combo when using the sights was an afterthought in last-gen games, but seeing as this generation practically demands you to use those sights, I found the R1/L1 combo to kick the most ass.
i used to use l1 and r1 but have recently changed to l2 r2 due to the fact i got a pair of real triggers for my ps3 pad.. now i use the triggers a lot more,, no more slipping.
It doesn't really matter to me. I find that I'm able to acclimate to the default controls fairly quickly. So different control schemes for games have never really bothered me.
L1 and R1 I find much more practical... analog stick means you can sometimes slip and it's weird to press for me. Also, using shoulder buttons means you can move and aim a lot easier.
in kz2 cange the control scheme to alt. 2, its cod controls, the only bad thing is when your attached to cover, you press l2 and l1 to zoom, then r1 to shoot, l2 and l1 is uncomfertable and unnatural, but now im used to it, its ok now

Alternate 2, mark zoom hold, up both sensitivities 2 notches....COD4 beast controls with KILLZONE 2's beast tech and you get the best FPS shooter ever....

Actually you can. Change the control scheme to Alternate 2 and then turn on something like "Hold Down Aim"
