i loved the ending to Final Fantasy X, it was so sad but at the same time showed how in the end they did what they wanted to accomplish... the only thing that sucked about it was Final Fantasy X-2 ::throws up a little::
They're the only games in my memory that attempted to trigger any emotions of the player. Everything else either failed in the attempt or was just Marcus Fenix, which I don't think appeals to that many gamers.
Every ending in the Metal Gear saga were unmatched and perfectly written. However, out of those, I'd pick the MGS4 ending because it ended a 20 years old storyline so EPICALLY frickin awesome. Kojima FTW!
All the gushing over MGS4's ending is setting off multiple alarm bells in my head. That ending was an overlong, over indulgent, boring mess. Too many scenes, not enough real resolution. Big Boss' ridiculous ending speech must rank as one of the most unnecessary scenes in the entire series.
My personal favourite ending is Silent Hill 2's. The ending moments are just so brilliantly paced. The build up to the revelations and everything that comes after is just masterfully done. Everything in the game so far, every encounter, every little piece of foreshadowing just builds up to this one shocking moment at the game's end, when everything that was been set up beforehand suddenly comes crashing down.
