Best Football game for 2008....

Always been a football fan, and each year i look forward for footy games coming out... well since ISS pro, i always was interested in the ISS (later PES) rather than FIFA ones..

However when I got the PS3 my first footy game was Fifa08, and honestly EA sports made huge improvements and online is great.. (5 on 5 is really fun if you're lucky enough to have 4 other mates on your team who know that winning requires good team play)... Unfortunately i got also PES 2008, which was hugely dissapointing... I mean players look good but the rest has nothing to do with next-gen graphics... Online is a nightmare...

I know this topic might have been discussed already but are other footy games fans who have my same opinion and think this year FIFA is the best football game around ?

I respect your opinion, but if you're like myself who loves football games, you must have felt disappointed with PES 2008... was expecting much much more from the game... i still prefare its gameplay, its fast and fluid, but definately the gap between the two is much smaller.. Be a pro mode in Fifa 08 is great..

I,love both these games,... this year has been footie heaven to me!!!Firstly, there is no doubt, online, Fifa 08 online is by far & away the clear leader,... its incredibly smooth, to the extent that anybody watching wouldn't notice the difference whether you were online or not. Mind you, thats the PS3 version,.. I don't know what its like online on 360.

However, I do own PES 2008 on 360, & I absolutley adore it. For me, the graphics are slightly better on PES 2008, especially when it comes to player models. They look fantastic,.... saying that though, Fifa 08 looks great when it comes to stadiums,... ying & yang really!

So which one do I prefer,.....?

Well,... PES 2008 just tips it for me,.. the gameplay is just more fluid & instant.

Euro 2008 is out next Friday. The demo is on psn, its actually very good and thats coming from a Pro fan. theres also a preview on here it looks like they have crammed alot in for a mid-season update.andymanu

I just downloaded the demo on PSN,... its extremely impressive,... its actually an upgraded version of FIFA 08, with added little extras,.. I was pleasantly suprised ,... as I'm a PES 2008 fan as well.

EA have really turned the tables this year,... its a great time to be a footie fanatic!!!

Well the fluid gameplay of PES is not in question, but framerate issues really hurt the overall experience....

Always been a PES fan, and if the next installment will improve the online experience, then PES will be once again the best football game...

However right now am more in favour o FIFA 08.....

Will download the demo for Euro 2008, so I check that out....

Did you feel you really have adequate control? I have found that it is frustrating to try to achieve real control over my players when I am on defense. How do you achieve a strong defensive posture? Sometimes I feel that I press the X button but no one on my team cares.

Are you referring to FIFA08 - in the BE A PRO mode ?? if so it depends on the team... I mainly use AC MILAN, and players controlled by the AI are not bad...
