If you'd asked this a few weeks back I would have said resitance: fall of man. But COD4 is f'ing brilliant. What I will say about RFOM is that the single player campaign is a lot longer than COD4's. But COD4's on-line options surpass RFOM's in every department. You won't go wrong if you get either of them
I enjoyed The Darkness but it has very little replay value and because the on-line was so bad (LAG CITY!!) nobody goes near it anymore.
One other you might considor is Rainbow 6 Vegas but it's a long way behind RFOM & COD4 IMO

I'm not even a big FPS fan, but Call of Duty 4 is REALLY GOOD. Best FPS I have played in a really long time. Maybe the best ever.
I am a huge Unreal Tournament fan...bring back memories of my childhood. Haven't had a chance to play the new one yet, but I will sometime after the holidays. No money right now...spent it all on games and gifts already.
I say Unreal Tournament III is the best FPS this generation, but that's just my opinion. UT3 suits my style of play, and having offline bots makes a huge difference to me. UT3 offers an incredible experience whether playing online or offline, and one that I recommend to anyone who likes fast-paced, gory, intense action that never slows down and provides you with lots of thrills.
Based on what I've played Call of Duty 4 without a doubt _but_ I've always loved Unreal Tournament I may change my mind if I get a chance to play that in the very near future.
