umm lets see, I think we need more info first, like what size you looking for, and do you want it to go upto 720p or 1080i?

I'd check your local craigslist.com listings.  I found a 32 inch Sanyo LCD (720p) for $450, brand new too.  Retail price is $650.  So I think craigslist.com would be worth a look.

Lets see, You have to watch out for some brands tho beacuse some are just awful even tho it looks like a good deal. You could try Olivia, I heard some good things about them and I think they have something for what your looking for. Thats about it as far as I kno, If you want a more well known brand it would cost you extra for the size your looking for. My friend has a smaller Samsung and only real diffrence is that its smaller, picture looks just as good as some bigger tv's out there.

It's just right if you plan on playing somewhere between 3 to 9 feet away. It's a decent size, but obviously a larger size is more than welcome. Definitely more of a kitchen/bedroom/office tv ofcourse. plus its only 3 inches away from what you wanted with the quality of a Samsung one of the top TV makers in the biz.

2.6ft is actually the recommended distance for a tv of that size.

Yeah, I agree.  Olevia is the strongest "Bargain" brand out there.  Rated very high in consumer reports.  I have a 32 inch Olevia I got for about $550.   It's solid for the price.  Definitely increases the value of your PS3 compared to SDTV

No that is not a good ratio My Sony SXRD LCOS (LCD) has 10,000:1  and 2 ms although it is a 50" I have a 17" LG LCD with 2,000:1 and 4ms. smaller LCD may not need so much contrast.

I went to circuit city and all I found was flat panels. Then I looked around in the back and I found a used 32' Samsung tube 720p tv. The sides were kinda scratched up, but it still worked fine. I was able to get it for $400. It looks a lot bigger in my basement now then when it was line up with the other big tv's at the store.

Olevia is a good brand for the price.  I have a 32" Olevia 720p/1080i. Hdmi input as well.  I really like it.Only $600, if you could scrape up another benjamin.
