Getting a PS3 for Xmas and I was wondering which type of headset to get? Is the PS3 brand the best, or can I save some $$$ and get a Jabra or motorola?

it all depends on your preference, bluetooth headsets are pretty universal, i have used a jabra, a jawbone and a sony (official ps headset) without any problems... go for the one you like and / or the one that fits your budget best... :)

Any blue tooth will work bro, just pick anyone you can afford. I bought the cheapest brand name (Jabra BT2070) from Best Buy on sale for bout $19.99. Works like a charm, clear voice and sound.

Get this http://gear.ign.com/articles/114/1140254p1.html

I have the older version, and it's amazing.

I use it for my phone as well, and it worked better than all the heasets that I used before.

And this newer version is even better.

If you're serious about quality game sound and chat, go with a Turtle Beach PX21 headset... very happy with mine. $80, though...

... so, hence the "serious" commentary...

But they're seriously comfortable, and sound fantastic, allowing for custom blending of chat & game sound.

Best sound quality are the official PS3 headsets but they are pretty expensive, I'm just telling you because you're asking for the best. But any cheap $20 bluetooth will work fine.

I was wondering how well these work as I'm thinking of buying one. I've seen them starting for as low as 99 cents on eBay, but the earpiece looks somewhat awkward. Do they stay on well and are they comfortable?

i think my fist comment says how happy i am with them...but they are very comfortable, i have one for my cell phone and so does my wife. and it was basically $5. cant beat that.

I got the official Sony's headset and works fine. The problem I had was that I always wear headphones and never use the tv's speakers and I thought I could hear through the Sony's headset both the game's sound and the voices from the chat. But that's wrong and now I have to fasten the official headset with my headphones. So could u suggest any headsets that have mic and u can hear the game's sound as well?(and are not too expensive). I didn't make a new thread because that's similar

I heard that the turtle beach headsets were allright it depeds on you though do you need surround sound? if it's just for simple communication between team mates then the offical ps3 bluetooth headset should do just fine if your a more serious gamer and want to be able to hear all the foot steps and every little tiny sound clear then the price range your looking at is typically around 70 - 150 bucks for me I got the logitech f540 150 bucks yeah it's a bit pricey and it's a stereo headset but it's wireless :D the build quality is great and it's well worth the money you can use it for the 360 as well

If you want to go cheap, almost any Bluetooth headset will work, including the ones that come with cellphones. I bought a Rocketfish one for $20 and it's pretty much the same as the official Playstation one, it just costs a lot less.

Hmmm. I've got a 'blueparrott b-250xt' that I use on my phone. Works great in my truck. But, when I hooked it to my PS3, all was fine - at first. My headset shut down - period. Now panic set in because it's more important that the headset work on my phone than on my PS3. Luckily, I got it all straightened out and it still works fine with my phone. But now I'm a bit gun shy about trying this again. I really do want a headset that I can use when I come home at 2-3 am and feel the "need for speed" (in the form of GT5) and don't want to wake up wifey with the scream of high RPM's... Doesn't matter if I can talk with it - for now anyway. Is there an 'affordable' stereo bluetooth headset out there?

you really need to check out the turtlebeach px21 the mic can move up and down out of the way depending on if you use it and it has excellent sound for how its hooked up, not wireless but at least a 10-12ft cord is attached if not a bit longer. Great buy for me, and if you are scared about quality just get a 3 year warranty off squaretrade it costs like 9 bucks for peace of mind

Thanks KurupSoldr. I've been checking out the reviews on Amazon since you mentioned it. I started out with the one star reviews and worked my way up. Almost everyone mentions a hissing sound, and I wonder if it's a feedback issue of some sort. This sounds like what would happen when I connected a fancy reverb unit to my stereo back in the 70's - ha. Then, most mention a 'flimsy' issue. I really would like to see these in person to judge for myself. But, those who LOVE them, REALLY love them. This will require more contemplation. Why can't stuff like this be a simple go - no go when it comes to making a purchase decision??? Ha. Again KurupSoldr, thanks for your suggestion. I'm leaning toward DOING IT.

Invest some money into new PS3 Bluetooth Headset.

The quality and sound/voice clarity are outstanding.
