Honestly, not a lot fit the bill of "horror" anymore and what one person thinks is scary, another thinks it isn't. Today's generation seems to like their instant gradification. Even our RPG's tend to be action packed now and sadly, horror games seem to lean in that direction as well. With that being said, Dead Space is probably the top horror game...but there are a few others.
My advice would be to check out:
Siren and Condemned I heard are really scary, I haven't actually played them though, those and the ones NinjaZombie posted should keep you busy for a while.
Don't know if it's considered horror, but Heavy Rain is a good murder mystery game with thematic elements, I guess
And this will probably be closed. Try the stick next time
I forgot about those two, especially Siren! Silent Hill is worth mentioning too.Siren and Condemned I heard are really scary, I haven't actually played them though, those and the ones NinjaZombie posted should keep you busy for a while.

- Bioshock 1 and 2
- Resident Evil 5
- Alone in the Dark (its been patched since the review so don't go by the score)
- F.E.A.R 1 and 2

Resident evil is an awful recommendation. Its not even a horror game at all anymore. Fear 1 and 2 are awesome choices. They have some very scary and freaky moments but also fall into action heavy segments
fear 2 is not horror anymore....its realy crap!
the only game to scare the pants off me this gen has been Condemed 2. the first one was good, but 2 WAS SO MUCH BETTER!
Fear. It was spooky on more than a couple occasions. Fatal frame seems like such a lame concept but gezzzz it had some 'make you jump' moments.
I hear Siren Blood is really good for horror, that's all I think of really. (We need more horror games) :(
Silent Hill: Downpour is coming this fall so you might want to check that one out too, don't get Resident Evil 5 for horror, just don't, terrible game anyway imo.
He's so right, so scary, since I've played that game, I need to wear diapers at night. I think she live in my closet.Honestly, I thought that they really did a great job instilling fear in older gamers in Hannah Montana: The Movie: The Game. Hannah herself is actually a very gruesome character, and I was quite frightened by the scary music.

Dead Space, Resident Evil 5, Siren, Silent Hill, F.E.A.R, Condemned, Bioshock are all horror themed games.
Notice that some people get SURVIVAL HORROR mixed up with ACTION HORROR games. If you've got guns and tons of ammo, it's an action horror game. If you have very limited resources (Or sometimes, nothing at all) and need to have a strategy to survive, it's a survival horror game.
Survival horror games are practically non-existant this generation. Best bet there is Silent Hill and Siren.
