the best part of mirrors edge imo was doing speed runs and that would be hard to translate into an open world environment.
It wouldn't work free-roam because you would very often end up going in the wrong direction or getting lost, and the environments would be extremely repetitive then. And you have to remember that most of Mirror's Edge takes place on top of roofs, and how many big roofs can you have together at an even level before it gets ridiculous?
Also, I'd rather have them take out gunplay all together.
i'd rather there not be a focus on gunplay its not what mirrors edge is about and its not what made it such an awesome game.DJ_Headshot
The way I see it. Either they should make the gunplay not completelysuck....or they should just drop it altogether.
I thought it played out great in first person mode but then again i played it on the pc using a mouse and keyboard which is what mirrors edge is best played with. Not being First-Person.
It looked good, played out horribly imo.

Normally Tomb Raider like climbing doesn't work that well in 1st person but i think Mirrors Edge did it very well. Didn't have any problems with it.
Let's face it free roaming games are very difficult ot pull off, and nearly impossible with this game's mechanics, imagine cheap deaths galore. At least with GTA4 all that happened was maybe you crashed the car. It would end up being a chore i think unless they introduced a gimmick like fast transit system, which would defeat the purpose of it being free roaming. :)
actually, it was among the few first person games that didn't gave me a headache. it was great. the major flaw was the story or the way it was told IMO it felt rushed at the end like WTF?
k maybe the free roam wouldnt work but there should be at least 2-3 other ways to reach the objective other than the main path. it would make the game have more replay value taking a different path when you re-do levels. also the gun thing would be kind of useful because when playing on hard it is very very difficult to just beat up a guy with another one shooting at you. plus its more realistic if faith has a gun. i mean in that society who wouldnt walk around with a glock?SlickSkillsz
The multiple paths to reach the end goal, wouldn't really add more replay value. People wont really care about replaying levels just to see what the other paths would be like. collectibles add more replay value, time trials, speed runs, challenges, stuff like that. Not 2-3 paths it would make no difference.
