Hi All-

I get to borrow a friend's PS4 for a short while, and I would like to try out some games. I was thinking of signing up a 30-day Gamefly free trial and sort of binge-playing some games :D

So, what are your favorites? Doesn't have to be recent; PS4 has been out for a while, and I have played hardly anything on it (might as well be nothing on it).

I definitely want to try:

The Last of Us
God of War (recent)
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Uncharted (which one? My friend has the "collection" which I think has the first three games? What's the best?)

Any other recommendations?! I would of course love anything as long as it's good, but I game on PC and do love my indie stuff as well so bonus points if there are some hidden gems out there you can recommend :)

Thank you very much. Looking forward to it!

PS: bonus question: any experiences with Gamefly? Good? Bad?

@npiet1:which Infamous? The original, or the one with the pink-haired woman? I've read about both, they seem great. Thank you for the recommendations!

@dontbeasheep: is Detroit like a Telltale game? By that, I mean you don't really play it as much as you do other games, you just sort of interact with things and talk and watch. I'm not going to call it a "movie game" as most cynics do, I'm just concerned because I generally don't like games like that. It looks really good, though! I might have to try it out anyway. Thanks for the recommendations :D

I would stick with the Uncharted collection before playing 4. If you can't get through those then don't waste your time with 4.
I would recommend Horizon, Last of Us. I heard that God of War is awesome, I haven't played it yet though. Ratchet & Clank is fun.

Get the Last of Us, Uncharted 4, God of War and the Shawshank Redemption.

Gameswise try out Persona 5, Yakuza 0, Bloodbourne and Shadow of the Collosus remake.

My faves so far are The Last of Us, Gravity Rush Remastered and Until Dawn. I only have about ten games.

@mrbojangles25: There both pretty good, I preferred the first one (second son) but first light is like a standalone DLC like blood dragon was.

I would say U2 and The Lost Legacy are the best. The only one I don't like is U3.

How long do you have the PS4 for? reason I'm asking is some of the games are kind of lengthy that you mentioned, and recommending more wont make much sense.

Unless you play like 10 hours a day...

those four are a good start and it's a pretty good order to play them in too.

if you're pushed for time i'd jump straight to uc4 and only play the collection if you enjoy it and want to know more about the character's back stories

Games I can vouch for:

Uncharted 4 (UC4). Recently bought this, the game has abit of an origin story, and I haven't played the earlier ones. I really enjoy it, even though I'm not too far in. I am currently playing UC4.

I also really like Dragon Quest Builders. The first 2 hours are garbage, but it gets pretty good once you get to your second island and beyond. I am also currently playing and enjoying.

If you have time left Infamous Second Son. I played for around 10 hours and then I quit because I have other things to do. If you have a PS4 for a limited time you should try it.

I haven't played The Last of Us, God of War (recent) ,Horizon: Zero Dawn.

-----

Oh yes, forgot if you need more games and you're renting them on a deal

Wipeout Omega Collection, Gran Turismo Sport, and Everybody's Golf.

Tearaway unfolded. One of the best game of the generation and one of the most underrated gems of the decade.

I got back into ps4 2 months ago myself. I'd say yakuza 0 easily, hilarious game and supposedly one of the best in the series(I only played 0, 1 remake, and starting 6 rn).

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I'm playing Horizon right now and, my god, the game is so much fun.

Just hunting is a joy. It's challenging, tactical, and diverse. Shoot weak points on robots, chase them into a bunch of explosive tripwires, go for their eyes. The fact that all the robots are pretty tough and there's generally no way to just "spray and pray" to take them out in a traditional sense really adds an enjoyable level of difficulty.

Aloy is a great protagonist, and while I'm just getting out of the Embrace (or whatever the starting area is...I just got to the top of my first Longneck), I'm enjoying the story and other characters.

I think I might be buying a PS4 soon :) I'm still about 80% on my PC, but the PS4 is quickly gaining ground. Would be worth it to me to buy one. If only I could hook up a mouse and keyboard :P

- Horizon Zero Dawn

- Gravity Rush 2

- Infamous: Second Son

- Persona 5(Very lengthy, though. Quite possibly the greatest JRPG of our generation unless Dragon Quest XI dethrones it)

- Ni No Kuni: The Revenant Kingdom(One of the only JRPG's where I don't mind fighting. Battles are really fast-paced and usually only take about 30 seconds)

- Bloodborne

If you want to play a JRPG, then look no further than Persona 5. It was my GOTY for 2017. Though if you're only playing for that month, I don't know if you'll finish it in time :P

If you want action, then the new God of War is a must! Also give Bloodbourne a go too.

I play 2-3 hours a day in moderation and well, I loved the lengthy games as well. If you don't mind spending a long time gaming away everyday, even if its for those shorter but meaningful sessions then yeah get Horizon Zero Dawn. Brilliant. Uncharted 4. You could also try Prey, a curious one really and not the best but it is cool.
