Ok obviously GTA4 is going to sell out VERY fast, and like an idiot I didn't pre order. I was wondering I have a local 24 hour Wal-Mart, are they doing a midnight release like they did with Halo 3?
i'll probably just walk into Hastings that evening, stroll through the crowd ravaging for GTAIV, pay my $55 and walk out with my reserved copy.

I've had this thng reserved since August, when it was supposed to be released in october...so i'm going to put a me-shaped hole in the glass becuase the automatic door is opening too slow, I'll demand the clerk to 'find the one who escaped' and start laughing hysterically when they pull my copy from the drawer.
It's mad how this happens in the US I guarantee that here in Ireland I'll be able to walk into a store on my lunchbreak and pick up a copy which is what I intend to do.

I didn't pre-order this game as well. Since they are mass producing the game I'm pretty sure that you could find a copy on day 1 depending where you live. I'll just go to any gamestore that week and just pick it up I highly doubt I will go on the first day.
I dont mean to sell the PS3 short,, but honestly, camping out will only get you a copy of the game at midnight, as i guarentee youll be able to walk into any store the next morning and pick it up.
the 360 version's may sell out tho, but there isnt a big enough PS3 install base to suggest any PS3 game no matter how big will sell out.. maybe GTA5 tho

BINGO! same here lol, in the uk tho, at 3:00 i will walk into a store, seeing its half empty i will pick up a GTA 4 case and walk to the counter,( gamestation), the worker will give me my copy and i will walk home, slowly and happyily :)
I am almost 100% sure this game isn't going to sell out around where I live. Most people around here seem to have no idea what games are good or not. Halo 3 didn't even come close to running out of stock, there was still lots of Brawl sitting around, etc.
But as for your situation, here's what you do. When someone drives by, run in front of them to slow them down. Break the windshield and throw them out the car. Quickly drive away in the car towards the Wal-mart, and run over every single person who you see in the GTAIV line.
But you better go to a Pay-N-Spray right after, your Wanted level probably went up a tad when you did that.
Since nobody in my town practically has a PS3 i'll just walk into walmart around 3:00p.m. go to game section and just handpick it. Cause i remeber when i went to gamestop to go buy COD4(PS3) and they had like 10 copies of it after the holiday season. Got for a pretty good price 50$ new.
But Walmart really isn't the place to camp out cause i don't think there will be a midnight release. Best Buy or Circuit City would be your best bet i'd suspect.

You guys say it will be easy to get a copy, but I dissagree. I remember I tried to get Vice City when if first came out and it was sold out EVERYWHERE I finally found a single copy hidden at a Comp USA after going to like 10 stores. Also I felt dumb camping out for halo 3 at Wal-mart because nobody was showing up but about 2 hours before midnight about 40 people showed up there was a line all the way around the electronics department, so then I felt good knowing I was first in line and was guarenteed one. I know GTA4 will sell more than Halo 3.

Yeah, I live in America, and I'm gonna camp in my bed that night. Then I'll hit up Hastings the afternoon of the 29th and pick up one of the many copies on the shelf. Just like I did for Vice City and San Andreas

Ravaging crowd? Hardly likely. The people that attend midnight launches will all be gone by lunchtime and I'll just go grab one off the shelf. Rockstar isn't going to leave money on the table by not having enough copies. The game is gold and they're cranking out discs around the clock.
Let's just hope you aren't waiting in line for 1-3hrs at the midnight launch. You'll end up getting home so late you'll be too tired to enjoy the game. Happened to me for San Andreas launch.

Preordering games is useless. I have never had a problem picking up any game the day of release without a preorder. Even a game like Halo 3 I easily got the day of release at a local BestBuy.

I can't think of a game in recent memory that wasn't in plentiful supply on launch day.Believe it or not Army of Two was almost impossible to find on launch EVERY gamstop was sold out of both versions, I almost gave up until I called and the Gamestop had a single copy, GTA4 is gonna sell out I can bet on it.
You could still pre-order the game if youre worried about it. Games only take 1-2 days at the most to reach even stores out here in Hawaii. But I'm pretty sure the stores will be even more packed than when Halo was release, because youve got PS3 and x360 people there.

Like I said, I had a hard time finding Army of Two on launch, ALOT of people buy games where I live apparently, GTA4 will sell out FAST.
Wal Mart will have it at midnight. I picked up Saints Row, Bioshock, Guitar Hero II, and Oblivion all at midnight. GTA4 is much larger then all the games I listed, I guarantee they will start selling them. Oh yeah, Halo 3 without having to wait in a line.
