ive never played the other mgs games but when i played mgs4 i was amazed by eveything!!!!! it truly is one of the best games of all tiime.

It's true that most of the story will go over your head if you haven't played the previous games, but you'll still enjoy it, I'm sure. However, you REALLY should play the previous games first. Not only are they great, but if you play MGS4 without having played those, you'll miss out on some of the emotional weight of the story.

If you're not willing to play the old ones though, you should definitely brief yourself on the story in some way. There's wikipedia, obviously, but Gametrailers.com actually has a very good video retrospective of the series.

Instead it should have it's own score: MGS4...because lets face it, all games after Metal Gear Solid 4 should be gudge by the best...it's kinda like how the Greeco-Roman Calendar became A.D. after Jesus:P

I can't see enjoying and understanding the impact of MGS4 without having played MGS 1-3. The ending to MGS4 is an extremely deep and meaningful one too IMO.CruxisXIII

Yeah, that ending would be totally lost on someone who hadn't played the previous games. Everyone should play this game, but if they rush into it without first playing through the rest of the series, they're cheating themselves of the true experience.

Yeah, like 10ASS (After Solid Snake) could be zero, and 1ASS could be 10. Of course MGS4 is 0ASS

ATM it would be MGS4, our only other good exclusives are uncharted, R&C:TOD and Resistance.

Sory for another post but this needed a post of its own.

MGS4 is honestly, at this point, probably the best game i have ever played, and i have played a lot of games. It just brings a tear to my eye to see how far technology and creativity has arrived, especially since the MGS1 era. I truly applaud Kojima for making such such a masterpiece, both artistically, visually, and gameplay/story wise.
