Oblivion gets my vote, too. Really immersive game with soo many good quests and a huge world to explore. Fallout 3 grabbing a close second.

Mass Effect 2 or the massively underrated Alpha Protocol. Oblivion was okay too. It had tons of issues though (terrible leveling, leveling enemies, bad combat, 4 voice actors, procedurally generated forests, nothing interesting off the beaten path etc)

For linear RPGs that are more focused on action: Demon's Souls For more open world RPGs that focus on exploration: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion For Japanese RPGs: Valkyria Chronicles Although, I haven't played Fallout 3/New Vegas or Dragon Age: Origins/2 so I'm not completely sure. Mass Effect 2 is also a good one.

1.Final Fantasy 13 (ignore the haters)

2.Mass Effect 2 (More of a TPS than RPG but still)

3.Resonance of Fate (Difficult but good)

4.Dragon Age Origins (I dont like the battle system but everything else is good)

Can't decide between Dragon Age: Origins and Ar Tonelico Quoga (probably fine though as one is J- and the other western style). Both made me replay them several times to try out every possible plotline. Oblivion comes close after. I don't find it as great but it kept me exploring the interesting world until I had 3 playthroughs worth of linear RPGs.

Mass Effect 2 by far, BioWare is my favorite game developer (with Valve coming in second :P).

I have to give that award to a few different games: 1) Demon's Souls is the winner 2) Dragon Age: Origins/Awakening/2 3) Oblivion any one of those games will give you something to do for quite some time

Yakuza 3. Although not officially an RPG it has RPG elements. Great story, Upgrade and purchase new weapons, Equip items, Level grinding if neccesary, Great graphics & A truck load of content.

I think I'm gonna go and buy this again tommorow.

1. Mass Effect 2

2. Fallout 3

3. Final Fantasy XIII

I hate medievel fantasy games, so no Elder Scrolls, Demon's Souls, or Dragon Age for me. There have also been plenty of JRPGs released but barely any worth playing.

Kingdom Hearts 3 and the next Tales game from Namco Bandai I will looking out for.

For me Dragon Age Origins is the best RPG for the PS3, while the expansion and Dragon Age 2 were good, I really do think the first of the series was the better, in terms of gameplay, and how enjoyable it was to play. Also I enjoyed the story more although they all have pretty good stories.

Valkyria Chronicles gets my vote. The gameplay is top-notch, and pretty much every mission is unique and has their own twists. The game never got boring for me.

Demon's Souls, end of story. It's totally a unique, gorgeous, extremely challenging, and the most rewarding RPG ever made. The ability to invadegamers' single player games is EPIC. The combat isn't cheesy hack and slash like soooo many other RPG's, it's so satisfying and well executed. Demon's Souls has single handedly made me fall back in love with gaming. It's just so old school yet it feels so fresh and unique. I could seriously write pages ablout the game if I had to, it's so damn good. I played through it with no help, guides, youtube videos. All I used was the in game tools and it was the purest gaming experience ever, it's hard to describe, it felt like I played the perfect game once I completed it.

Dragon Age origins was the first RPG I really ever played (I put down Resonance of Fate after an hour). It completely immersed me and I was even a little depressed after it was finished. It puts such an emphasis on the player making gamechanging decisions.

I'm gonna be a lone wolf here. White Knight Chronicles.

Storymode, although short isn't the main focus. Online is where it's all at. I love the grind aspect, collecting mats, upgrading, although very frustrating at times, extremely rewarding and generally had a good experience with other players. Definitely one of the best JRPGs I've played this gen. 650 hrs and counting.

Demon's Souls IMO.

Oblivion is good... yes. However, the PC version is worlds better than the console version.

well for me the best rpg ive played on ps3 so far is ff13. great story and even greater graphics. gameplay was good too, although i enjoyed the battle stystem in previous ff's better. still good though. second id say is mass effect 2. this is the definition of a quality game, i was really pleased with it. it looks amazing and its hella fun. now i would say dragon age origins, but to be honest i just played through to the end of the game for the story, because the battles system imo was really bad. i would literally do nothing but get my characters to attack and wait till they get weak or die and just heal them, and that would be it. i dont know maybe it was meant for PC but the battle system was really crap, also the reason i didnt get dragon age 2. the story was great though.

now demon's souls is a good game, i played it through to the end and did enjoy it. but i also think its one of the most overrated games, people usually don't look past the difficulty. just cuz a game is extremely hard doesnt make it all that great. the level designs were nothing special and the graphics seemed a bit outdated. and there was pretty much no story. one of the things i hated the most about that game was the fact that u have to start all over from the beginning of the level when u die, it was so damn frustrating lol. and not to mention ull get owned online unless u really research ur build and grind for hours to level up ur weapons and stuff. good game though, but i dont think its as great as ppl make it out to be.

overall i have to admit i am pretty dissapointed with the amount and quality of the rpgs on the ps3. i recall ps2 having a great number of rpgs, especially jrpgs. the ps3 has some, but most arent even worth checking out. i really hope they come out with some more rpgs, jrpgs in particular. im looking forward to the new elder scrolls game though cuz i loved oblivion and it looks pretty awesome.

I'd have to go with demon's souls and ovlivion, those 2 games are fantastic, but if I had to choose between the 2 I'd go with Demons souls.
