i thought heavy rain was pretty immersive with a good story. Action got pretty decent towards the end. ive just finished Fallout3, story isnt groundbreaking but its a game that everyone should play once in their life (imo)
Would MGS4 actually make any sense if I haven't played the past ones? If not I'll just wait for the HD collection to come out to pick up those games.
I had never played a MGS before as well, but thankfully they released a 'MGS database' (downloadable from PS store) which brings you up to speed. The best solution would still be to play the previous games, but using the 'MGS Database' worked great for me (There's a lot of names and events in that game)
Heavy Rain has a great story. I loved MGS4's story as well, but hey... I'm a fan of that series. Also Red Dead Redemption has an amazing story with wonderful characters and a gorgeous environment.
I really enjoyed Red Dead Redemption.....it stood out above the rest. As for MGS, I never got into the story.....to me it felt like it was written for "younger men"....please don't hate because I post my honest opinion.
I would say Heavy Rain's story was the best. It's honestly like playing through a movie. The gameplay itself was a bit strange though, in that is isn't typical for most games. I probably wouldn't even consider Heavy Rain a true game because of how strange it's gameplay was.
Heavy Rain- My favorite story in a video game Unhcarted 2-A close second Mass Effect 2-A great sci-fi story Red Dead Redemption-If you like westerns or not either way this is great GTA IV-Honestly, the story is great made even better with the expansions
For real i would say Mass Effect 2. It had good story and was long. Resistance is good but only if you get both. Uncharted had very likeable characters. God of War HD collection, and God of war 3. Heavenly Sword was short but great story.
Uncharted 1 and 2,Metal Gear Solid 4 (I really suggest you go play the other 3 first...for 2 reasons..to get the story better and because there AMAZING games.),Infamous, and Heavy Rain.
MGS4, regardless of whether you've played the others. All my friends who never played the previous games got the main drift and still loved it. Bioshock is a must.
MGS4(definitely play MGS1-3 before playing it), BioShock and Portal 2(also better if you play the previous game). BioShock stands the best on it's own out of those three. The philosophy it has is so better developed and mature than almost any other game out there. Also there's a lot of great just "moments" in that game. Plus the twist, oh boy the twist. Fantastic game, just thinking about it kinda makes me wanna go back and play through it again. :D
I see lot of people posting Uncharted 2 which has me baffled to no end. Sure the characters are entertaining, but the story was downright abysmal. At least that's what I thought. I mean it's similar to a National Treasure movie, but even those movies had plots that were twice as interesting as Uncharted and the National Treasure movies were pretty bad.
inFAMOUS 1 had pretty bad characters, but the plot was very good IMO
I can't believe people are saying UC2 has a good story. Fantastic voice acting and relationships between the characters but the story? Nah. Hey this secret mountaing we are trying to get to? Why not get in a helicopter and just fly over it lol.
Close contenders are the Assassin's Creed series, and the inFamous series.
If you want something with great writing, then go for the Uncharted or Portal series (although the plot of Uncharted is pretty lame, the writing is exceptional).
