well FF Tactics, Jean D'arc, and Disigea (spelling?) are turn based STRATEGY-RPG hybrids and are all very good games.
as for traditional japanese style turn based RPGs, i'm not sure, i'm still kind of on the hunt for that myself. although i got Wild Arms for the PS1 off teh playstation store and it runs great on my PSP.
Feild Commander and the upcoming R-type Command demo was also pretty good, and also Warhammer 40000 Squad Command(i think thats the name) was also ok.Panzeram
