I thought of this topic, reading the Pirates on the Caribbean hands on, and thinking to myself that the game will be lame...

To me, it is always a tricky proposition to cross video games and movies, and they always seem to fail either way.  Admittedly, I really didn't get too much into some of the games in recent years, the latter part of last generation, but in my experience.... they always seem lacking.

The Spidermans were ok, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.  In I could only think of (of a game based on a movie or a movie based on a game) a couple that I really liked (prepare to go old school) were the Tron video games (I liked both the original and the disc one)... and the first James Bond game on the N64 (I believe it was Golden Eye).

I could not think of a single decent movie based on a video game.

I've been playing video games now for over 20 years and I honestly can't think of a single decent movie game in all that time. They've always been lame IMO. My son insisted I parted with my hard earned cash last year to buy him Superman Returns on the PS2 because he loved the movie so much. I think it's in the bottom of his wardrobe now gathering dust. Somebody mentioned Scarface? NAH. A lot of people loved the Godfather and it got decent reviews everywhere. Curiosity got the better of me (I should've known better)and it's the only game I've bought and returned in the same day absoloute garbage. So in answer to your question I don't think there has been one.

Since we are on the subject, how about a movie that would make a bad a$$ game.  My vote - The Professional.

That went the other way around though didn't it? Game first movie second? I never saw the movie but I remember the critics panning it, and lets face it the track record of game first movie second hasn't been great Tomb Raider, Resident Evil anyone???

Oh s**t I've just thought of one The Warriors was absoloute class.

Yeah, Silent Hill is definately very true to the videogame. I personally loved it. But, i can understand that if someone watched that movie without playing the videogame it would seem like a crap movie. I dont think there is a movie to game that is good out there............Oh Wait!..........oh, nevermind, thought i found one.

Just to turn around that a bit a Grand Theft Auto movie is long over due. I know there's one that was done in the 60's or 70's but obviously it has nothing to do with the games it just shares the same name.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King I would say was the best game made from a movie - although the movie was made from a book.
