I have PSP Video 9 that takes videos on my hard drive, but I need to get it from my disc to the memory card. I am sure this has been brought up before, so I was hoping I could find a good (and preferably free) way of doing this. I want to put some of my Seinfeld DVDs on my 4 gb card.

No one can help me? Or is this not allowed to be discussed on here? I figure it is legal since they sell media managers to do this type of thing.

It's legal.

Media MAnager doesn't do it though. I just got it free at the official Japan Playstation site.

I wish I knew how :/

The best "free" way to do it is to find either DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink. These will rip movies to your harddrive so that PSP V9 can convert them. I bought PSP Movie Creator and that does the ripping/converting on the fly. I'm back to PSP V9 though since it converts at the max resolution of the PSP.

I usually use xvid4psp since it has dvd decrypter built in, and it handles most of the messing around for me. Although I only ripped a dvd once with it so I can't remember how good or bad the experience was... all I can say is it was un-eventful and it worked. Oh, yeah it is free also.

It's legal.Dnerd

Not entirely true. While it's technically legal to rip DVDs for your own personal use, it is illegal to circumvent the DRM on them.

DVD Decrypter is usually the best program for ripping DVDs. It's safe to use. However, the developer got threatened and the project got shut down. Older versions are still available and work well. Some movies though can't be ripped, such as Casino Royal. I won't tell you where to find them but Google is your friend.

You can then use PSP Video 9 to encode them to MPEG-4 AVC. PSP Video 9 is probably the best. I can't remember if it can read .VOB files so you may need a program to encode VOB to MPEG-2 first.

Here is the link for part 1 of the 3-part You Tube tutorial:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6KSdZLYync

The creator of the videos uses DVD Shrink and PSP Video 9. You will have to play around a bit with Video 9 because the instructions shown are for a previous version. It took a while, but I was eventually able to match most of the settings from the You Tube tutorials.
