I loved Bioshock very much ... one of my favourite games of all time :)

I'm going to purchase Bioshock 2 when its price drops , i hear great things about the gameplay and combat mechanics , storywise ... its not great like bioshock 1 so some say ... But i need to play the game myself first to state my own opinion :)

Bioshock one was super fun. Bioshock 2, I felt was an expansion pack I didn't complete it because I don't want it to ruin my taste for the first game.

I enjoyed both but the story from the original was much stronger. I also preferred the "free roam" of the first over the linear progression of the second.

In My Opinion: BioShock 1 = Better Atmosphere, Better Places... BioShock 2 = Better Story, Better Control system...

I found Bioshock 1 quite a bit better experience overall. Better atmosphere, more details, well crafted in every way.

Bioshock 2 does have improvements, the gameplay mechanics are smoother but it's not reaching greatest of first game. Regardless, for anyone who enjoyed original Bioshock, the second game is not to shabby by any means.

Bioshock 2, imo, is head and shoulders above Bioshock , just because of the improved mechanics and multiplayer. The story, honestly, is just as good as Bioshock 1, but it lacks that "freshness" that the first one had. Still, at 8 hours, idk if its worth the 60. I got it on release day and I sort of regret it. I beat it in two days, played mp for a week then moved on to UC2, then FFXIII, then GoW3, and between those I haven't had time to go back to it.
