Okay I went to pick up my Limited Edition Saints Row 2 (very nice pack btw) and to my amazement Bioshock was in the shelf for PS3, I quickly picked it up aswell for purchase, now I'm wondering is it even meant to be out yet as I thought its not out until the 23rd? I got it at EB Games here in Australia btw.
^^ same here. sometimes it seems like games are a week late in my area as well. the wal mart next to me never even heard of silent hill!? that being said... any of you get your hands on a early copy of street fighter 4 i will gladly purchase it from you.

Stores usually receive games way before they are released, but can't take them to shelves after certain date. That way, distributors can deliver games at a more realistic pace than "all stores the same night"... Some stores seems to be unaware/don't care that...
And if you think a few days off is bad, consider this. Were I live, they don't bring new games... I have to import them.

same thing where I live..new games arrive like 3 MOUNTHS after there usa release date..also games where I live cost 100$ each!! (greatest hits cost 60$..which is the original price in the usa) also most stores barely have any games...most stores will have like 40 ps2 games on shelf and like 10 ps3 games..and those 10 ps3 games are more or less the same games in all stores....I paid 800$ for my ps3 btw...it sucks. thats why I import as well
It's not a matter of some stores not caring or not knowing that stock goes out on certain dates.
Some items when received in are "embargoed," basically meaning they are NOT ALLOWED to be released untill a specified release date. If an item is not embargoed, and the store gets the stock in early, it's simply an upper hand, and they can release the stock as soon as they like.
For example, I work in a game/software store, and have had Bioshock and Saints Row 2 for a while now. Similarly, I had Iron man on Blu Ray like a week before it came out. not to mention target had the upper hand on US and we sent it out early! they were selling it something like 8 days earlier than us.
most games have a certai nstreet date to them. if a street date is broken and reported then other stores start selling early. in the case of bioshock... didnt have a stringent release schedule so when eb received it they just put it up. happened with fifa started selling it 2 days early.
