Well, these topics make BioShock sounds like crap - graphics wise. If you played the demo with a good TV, this game looks phenomenal. I hear people saying this game looks like a PSone game. Either thats the fanboy in them speaking, or they are just plain exaggerating. The graphics are amazing, SLIGHTLY worse than the 360's, but still amazing and breath-taking. Better than most games' graphics in my honest opinion. The muddy textures arn't noticable anyways. The graphics are no where near as bad as people say they are, I give the graphics a 9. Maybe people are just exaggerating from playing the 360/Pc version. I doubt people will be complaining if this game was exclusive of if every version looked like the PS3's version. jjgamer03
I have the 360 version and I think this new one on the PS3 looks better.
I played BS on the 360... it looks almost the same except the ps3 version looks slightly sharper(GRAPHICALLY)MERC_RECONN
yeah, the textures look a bit better. The framerate is much better too.

of course many people played bio shock, and if you play it now on the ps3 it definitely feels alittle more solid, tight, and smooth with the framerates and graphically.

Dear God, anybody saying the PS3 version is equivalent, better, or only slightly worse looking than the 360 one needs a new set of glasses.
The textures are much less detailed, and much more blurry.
My 360 is connect via HDMI to my Sony KDS 1080p SXRD television, as is my PS3.
The PS3 one has some serious aliasing issues, the opening scene with the water was worse, the dramatic lighting has been toned down quite a bit. The one thing I noticed was that the color depth and contrast were better, but that didn't excuse the bad textures and muddy graphics.
Its not that it looked like it was 480p. It looked like it was 1080p, but really, really, really fuzzy/blurred.
At first when I walked onto the land after getting out of the water at the beginning, I still remember my jaw dropping when I saw the textures on the wet stone floor. On the PS3, I was like"WTF". Its strange too because back then I had the same TV but I was playing in 1080i using component cables.
I first thought it was just texture latency, as usual with the Unreal 3 engine, like at the starting of every Gears of War match...so I waited...and waited....same muddy textures.
And the audio was out of whack too! I could have sworn that everything sounded much more quiet, with an echoey feel. I liked hearing the chatter of Atlas and that other guy at the beginning on the 360 but on the PS3 I could only hear muffled words in their speech.
I'm not one to look for every pixel, but there is a VERY noticable difference between the 360 and PS3 ones, most notibly, the PS3 having a much more simple lighting interface, much more bland textures, and a very fuzzy and blurred look too it, as well as Aliasing problems.
Its nobodies TV, its nobodies PS3 or wires, nothing is faulty, there must have been something wrong with the Demo.
If there is nothing wrong with the demo, that makes 2K boston a bunch of filthy liars lol. They said the Ps3 one was on par. Lets hope this is an extremely early build and not a bad port or something, I was looking forward to enjoying Bioshock again with its extra content on the PS3, I intended too with the same or better graphics.
EDIT: My brother is playing it right now. Duriong the sequence where you walk across the bioshpere bridge and the part of the plane hits, there is severe slowdown and the framerate dips whenever he walks by water. I just played some Burnout Paradise and Warhawk earlier and they looked great/normal and played as fluid as usual...its the demo.
guys, don't go by your memory, recheck out the 360 one, if you still got it, or just redownload the demo, there is a significant difference here, anybody denying it must be ignorant of the difference, mabye judging by memory or online screenshots alone.

same here , i think the water looks WAY better than on the 360, the only thing that's annoying about the demo is the anti-aliasing , a bit jagged up when you look at the model's edges, other than that im picking it up again, GET IT IT'S A MASTERPIECE! i've been playing the 360 version since launch and i have beaten it tons of time , worth every penny spent on , oh and im really impressed that 2K kept the same graphical level on PS3, most old ports normally suck hard with tons of crap looking jagged up but this is an impressive work.
It's true water on Biohock for PS3 looks worse, I think some water effects look more 2D than 3D, for instace the water foam looks like blue paper or something, it makes game look more PS2 era. However, textures look much more clean on PS3 than on Xbox 360. I'm not quite sure about detail, but sureley they look higher resolution, perhaps it's because of the incorparation of better texture filtering, I don't know. Frame rate behaves differently on PS3, while sometimes looks very inferior to xbox 360 (the scene where city is presented) framerate during gameplay is overall much better.
There's no way I can tell you about the native resolution of the game. But certainly I can tell you game menu has very low resolution images (for instance BIoshock logo displaying on the menu) and they have nothing to do with the native resolution. Also I noticed a very weird bug when running at 1080p, some white bars appeared on the intro (some 1080p displays may not notice it since HDTV should be on "just scan" or other video mode which allows you real 1080p since most HDTV's overscan the picture a little) and when they guy who's asking you help on the radio (his picture appears) I noticed some refresh issues (I don't know how to call them), I mean looked like images were retained, so I pressed start button and they were gone. If this is the final build of the game it's very lame to see bugs like that one. On the other hand I hardly doubt it's based on the final build. And if it is I will sue 2k games for not debugging !!!!!!
About contrast levels and color depth people may have different results depending on their TV sets due a few have HDMI 1.3 (which makes FULL RGB and super white compatible, problem is I can't tell which games support more colors, someone?) and some other people sadly don't. So it's not as simple as Gametrailers and other websites makes you think it is.
Other important aspect I noticed about the game is sound. While some people may complain about its volume you should also consider the game supports uncompressed 7.1 LPCM sound, which requieres HDMI 1.3 reciever vs compressed Dolby Digital 5.1.
Sincerely I was expecting to see even better visuals because IGN and other websites commented game visuals were substantially improved.
 This thread is lame ..
Why can't we just enjoy our games without having to deal with children screaming .. 'NO OURS IS BETTER!!!!' .. grow up kiddies ..

Ok after much playing around i finaly realized that my TV is showing me the game just as it should, and this guy proves my point as to why i was wondering whats wrong with the graphics on the PS3 version. It looks like crap. And dont tell me its my TV because im playing it on a sony 40Z4100 which is an amazing LCD,one of the best out right now. I own 360 and PS3 and i went back and forth on the same parts of the demo running at the same time and the PS3 version is MUCH softer and has much worse textures/lighting as the 360 version. Its clear as a day and night difference.

Idk, there's clearly something going on here. I played Bioshock through on the highest settings on PC the other day and I had the game for 360 when I owned one as well. Oit of curiousity I played the demo today. To me there's practically no difference between the versions except the PS3 version feels a little darker for some reasonbut nothing big.
However, at my mates he was getting white lines and stuff in cutscenes. I don't know if different age consoles are doing somethingdifferent when upscaling/finding the best res or something.Certainly if I'd just seen mine I wouldn't know what the fuss was.
and btw OHRLY same grahics?
wut nao?

could be a LoD glitch on the model ...the rest of the game looks fine.

It's actually you're a dumbass .. learn to spell .. :|
I don't sit there and analyze the visuals for faults, I actually play the game.:o
I played Bioshock on the 360 last year, and I checked out the PS3 demo recently to see how it held up.
Regardless of the slight graphical downgrade, Bioshock still plays great and I'm not gonna let visuals that aren't up to my standards ruin a quality purchase.
@420token420 lol the fact that you actually take the time to correct a spelling error doesnt change the fact that "you're" just a pure complete dumbass for saying a high end LCD is at fault for showing poor graphics, sorry to burst "you're" bubble buddy.Viper2847

youre on a crusade to save the name for Bioshock on ps3 haha. Even the guy with BioShockOwnz name, and owns all 3 consoles admits the PS3 is the inferior version... maybe they compressed the graphics for the demo, but based on the fact that 100% of demos ive played are the exact same game as full copy, i doubt it. Face it man, it sucks when your console gets the inferior version, especially a year after release and when its $20 more than the same game on another console

Talking down to others with spelling/grammar mistakes is all too funny. I honestly don't really care if the graphics are .00000005345900% less amazing the game will still be fun. Anyone who wastes the time counting polygons and comparing textures has proved they have a very shallow meaningless life. The only people who will notice the difference are here in the GS forums. Normal people who play this game on the PS3 will love it, blissfully unaware of petty texture comparisons in our geek sanctuary.getyeryayasoutSo true. Gamespot, or Hatespot. :P This site has stolen the blissfully ignorant joy from too many gamers.
I dont know whats going on. The bioshock demo for some reason looks as if its running at 480p. Everything looks very very jaggy especially the letters in the main menue and stuff. Ive tried just leaving 720p checked and running the demo, and i did the same for 1080p as well and kept getting the same results. Anyone else have this problem or know how I can fix it?Viper2847

The demo looks great on my TV... and the fake pics are just crap! Like 2K said the game is going to be on par with x360 version :)
I just advice u to buy a new TV :) or you could be a troll!
