I love BioShock and BioShock 2 and I have a really good feeling that I'm goingto lovethe much anticipated/must buyBioShock Infinite too!:)
Bioshock and Bioshock 2 are two of my favourite all-time games. At first, I didn't like the thought of not being set in Rapture, however I think now it looks amazing, and a sure GOTY contender for next year.
It looks really cool. In the meantime before it comes out i still have to catch up on BioShock 1&2 though.
I wasn't a fan of the series to start, but after several forum friends admonished me to give it time, I found the magic in "BioShock". It's a game you need to let grow on you. That said, I don't know how sparked I am for "Infinite". Part of the attraction for me to the first two games was the stuff cribbed from "Captain Nemo & Th Underwater City" (IMDB Linky) so taking it to the air sorta loses me a little bit. The underwater aspect, with the darkness and the ever-present crushing weight of the sea kept me on-edge for the entire play-through. I don't know if "Infinite" will hold the same tension.
I am, of course, hopeful for another great game to be added to this gen's history whether I like it or not. The good folks at 2K Games have certainly built a fantastic track record so far!
:D
The only thing that worries me a bit is the fact that it seems more Halo than it does Half Life 2: it seems more run and gun and less about the slow, puzzle like vibe that I really enjoyed about Bioshock. I dunno, maybe I am just grasping at straws or something, but Infinite doesn't look as interesting as Bioshock 1 did. It is a day one purchase for me, but something still felt a little off.

Haha that part is what actually put me off in Bioshock. Even though I'm a big fan of survival horror genre that game was simply too stressful for me, and so with the brighter atmosphere and a more talkative main character (along with Elizabeth) it feels more appealing.
I loved the first two Bioshock games and this one is gorgous. Its my #1 game on my wishlist. I like the enviroment, the feel, and Elizabeth. Elizabeth is awesome. The idea of tears is wicked and her company will prevent things from feeling lonesome. I hope they fix the controls a little. By that i mean that in the first two games, i didnt really need to scope because it wasnt really helpful. Now that it seems more vital to do so, i think that R3 would be bad way to scope.
i hate the fact that this one doesn't take place in rapture, and because of that i don't think it will have the same feel as the other 2, regardless the first one will always be the best in my opinion. but as long as they don't butcher it with multiplayer it should atleast be fun for a playthrough.
I'm positive Infinite will have that tension, perhaps even more so. The first game kept you on edge because of the constant threat of the crushing sea, and this game has a backdrop that consists of a floating city that could come crashing down at any moment.I wasn't a fan of the series to start, but after several forum friends admonished me to give it time, I found the magic in "BioShock". .
I just picked up BioShock again after a hiatus, I can't express how excited I am for this one.
Is this a prequel or something (it seems to be set around the turn of the century rather than 1960). Ah, who cares! I'm sold!

It's actually a different story line set in 1912

why do you suppose they always seem to change everything about a story in a game that made it great?Yeah, it looks awesome. I was unsure of the new setting at first, but now I'm sure that it will do the first 2 Bioshock games proud, and I'm lucky that I don't own the original Bioshock, since the PS3 version will apparently come with it for free!
GOTY 2012.

You sure about that? Mass Effect 3 and The Last Guardian will also come out in 2012, as well as many other great games, I'm sure. I'm even looking forward to Ninja Gaiden 3, though I don't think it has a chanceat getting theGOTY award.
It does look like its going to be a good game but its going to grate on me that its called Bioshock. For me Bioshock is about Rapture and its Rand-esque themes.
I would like to know how much freedom you actually have in the city. From what I've seen it's seems pretty open, with the skylines obviously playing a major role in letting the player move about. However, a lot of it also seems very scripted, with dialogue occurring quite frequently. I'm just wondering if the "openness" is just an illusion, and if the player is really given much choice in choosing what happens.

I grok, but you realize that this went STRAIGHT over 90% of the heads on this website, right?

Why would you assume that Infinite won't consist of "Rand-esque" themes? It's kinda hard to tell when, you know, the game isn't even out yet. I don't mean to sound confrontational here.Call me crazy, but somehow, I think there will be plenty of social commentary and there are more frightening writers than Ayn Rand (give Brave New World or 1984 or Animal Farm a try). Ever read Machiavelli's The Prince? And what else were they to call it? Airshock? SystemBioShock?
Ever read any of the works of John Christopher (Samuel Youd is his true name). The White Mountains or Sword of the Spirits triologies? Check out The Guardians.
Frankly, I'll be disappointed if Ayn Rand comes up again in this new game.
