This is my first sports game on PS3. On madden on the PS2 i had the X button as my sprint and my swat and stiff arm as either L1 or R1. Same wih sports games on the 360.

Can anyone tell me if there is any way possible to change the controls on madden 09. By controls I mean change which button performs which action. I hate the way the controls are layed out and I keep hitting the wrong buttons. If not, (EA developers)refer to the title of this post .mkstan15

Anyways, I read that in a future update they might add a "Last Gen Controls" option. I think last year's version gave you the option to map your buttons however you wanted, surprised they took that option out:|.... then again it IS EA:P

I was with you last year .. they changed the controls and made it really hard for me since I was so used to X as my sprint ..

But honestly now that I am used to R2 as my sprint it is actually better .. you can use your thumb to juke, spin, stiff arm and so on. It's actually the best layout they have had.

Trust me man keep playing and learn the controls, they are much better this way .. even if you don't like it now .. you will ..

I don't know why they didn't .. and at first I hated it .. but honestly man these are MUCH better controls and makes everything more fluid ..

What exactly is wrong with wanting the ability to remap controls? Isn't that an option in over 90% of games out there? Is it THAT outrageous a demand to ellicit such a series of hostile responses? I mean really, how often does having more options in a game actually hurt?

Q:Why doesn't Soul Calibur 4 allow you to re-assign the controller buttons?

A:SHUT TEH F#!K UP AND LRN 2 PLY TEH GAM NOOB!!!!

For the most part, I agree. The only thing I REALLY want to change are the buttons that throws to the halfback and fullback. I liked L1(halfback) and R1(fullback) layout from last gen. Pressing L1 when the FB usually goes to the right on passing plays feels awkward to me. Other than that, the more I get used to the new controls, the more I'm starting to prefer them over the old.

Totally agree .. I forgot about the L1 being the full back which does feel weird .. but I guess we will have to live with it ..

The Topic Creator is right in a sense that the PS3 version is based on the 360 controls which is not a good thing. I swear it is as if EA develop the PS3 game with and 360 controller. who's idea was it to have R2 as the sprint button? we all Know the D-Pad is far superior on the DS, but it feels the 360 controls was just put on PS3 and ea called it a day
