On the back of my casino royale box it says that the resolution is 1080p but my telly only supports 1080i and 720. If i watch it will i still get a better picture then if i was using a standard tv.

Your TV will just scale it down to your TV's native resolution which in your case is probably 720p...and yes, it will still look great.

Blu-ray movies currently run in 480i/p ( NTSC) , 576i/p (PAL) , 1080i/p
a 720p signal for movies is not supported by PS3 and your PS3 will output 1080i ...
your TV will either accept the 1080i signal or scale it to 720p ( your TV's native resolution )

as for your question -- yes Blu-ray movies will look better on your 720p / 1080i HDTV over a SDTV ...

The PS3 will output the movie at 1080i.  Your HDTV will accept that and display it.  It will look amazing on your HDTV.

I have a 720p HDTV and watch Blu-ray at 1080i from my HDTV.  Looks great.  It would be best if the PS3 could downscale to 720p before sending, but I doubt anyone could notice anything.

The PS3 won't display blu-ray movies in 720p, I tried that. But it should still work in 1080i.

It also displays in 480 - but who cares about that?
