I tried a new HDMI cable, for both movie, and a game and niether one worked in HDMI.....so I purchased a set of HD componet cables to see if that would help had picture, but still 480i.....will not convert to any higher...I have tried everything that I can think of.

To me, since you said blu-ray and games, it sounds like your not setting your PS3 output to HD

ok this is what you do, first you press the the reset button until it turns on... u keep presing it until it turns off again and on again ( dont move ur finger from the buttom) and ur ps3 will reset itself, and finish

doesnt that sound like your tv is damaged to you? if you can try the ps3 on another tv and that should confirm it.

what other components work? the fact you can watch tv in 1080 is irrelevant to your issue. your tvs inputs could be bad, or just that particular input. however if you have indeed tested that input thoroughly then i have nothing else to suggest.
