thats most def a no go. never seen a blu ray on sd but id imagine it looked like crap.. on my old ps3 the hdmi port stoppped working and had to go to composite.. before i bought a slim. and even blu rays on that were kinda crappy.

Ive realised now that as the PS3 can use youtube I can just play one of the many comparison videos straight to my SD tv and get a better comparison, rather than using my pc as the montiors now are just below HD quality anyways really.

Never heard of component cables? ;) Its the green, red, blue cables, you may see the port on the back of hd tvs. There basically the yellow cable split in 3, so you usuallly get 5 plus including the audio ones.

I know that, I was just saying you don't need HDMI to get HD -signals but only in Digital. I wasn't asking, but thanks anyway.

the only games i use an sdtv for are fighters...and thats because there is no input lag....when im playing games that require memorization of frames and quick responses...i need there to be no lag between the cpu and the monitor...cause sf4 is impossible in a competitive sense on an hdtv with 2 or 3 frames of lag...when alot of moves take that long...and the difference between a tech and getting f'd is 1frame

it might just be my tv then....its kinda old...one of the first lcd hd tvs to come out.....but yeah....i still run those games on sd tvs lol

my sdtv while the ps3 is playing a movie looks far from crap actually looks pretty awesome tbh.
Im to scared to get a Hd tv :( Im scared the moment I get one some new feature will come out. Plus I dont know enough about tvs to ensure I get my moneys worth, great specs, and no input lag
If your on about picture quality then no, but as people have said already you do get those extras,
I have a HDTV 1080 and my blu rays look really good amazing quality and detail, my brother watches some of my blu rays on his SD tv and they just look like DVD quality
