Is there a noticable differnece when playing Blue rays on a SD TV vs just watching the DVD.

besides a few additional features (like menus ingame and online services etc), not really. I'd say the price difference is only worth if you wath the movie at least at 720p. Btw, isn't it a crime to use a SD Tv with your PS3? :P

thats most def a no go. never seen a blu ray on sd but id imagine it looked like crap.. on my old ps3 the hdmi port stoppped working and had to go to composite.. before i bought a slim. and even blu rays on that were kinda crappy.

No, you only tell the difference if its on an HDTV, otherwise theres no point in buying blu ray movies for an SDTV

the only games i use an sdtv for are fighters...and thats because there is no input lag....when im playing games that require memorization of frames and quick responses...i need there to be no lag between the cpu and the monitor...cause sf4 is impossible in a competitive sense on an hdtv with 2 or 3 frames of lag...when alot of moves take that long...and the difference between a tech and getting f'd is 1frame

I can count frames and I run SSF4 in HD, same goes for MvC2 I count the frames perfectly.

it might just be my tv then....its kinda old...one of the first lcd hd tvs to come out.....but yeah....i still run those games on sd tvs lol

If your on about picture quality then no, but as people have said already you do get those extras,
I have a HDTV 1080 and my blu rays look really good amazing quality and detail, my brother watches some of my blu rays on his SD tv and they just look like DVD quality
