any1 know where i cant get a functioning blueray drive for a 60 gig i looked on ebay and everywhere i cant find anything
and yea i mean where can i find 1 i already know how to do the repair i did it on a friends ps3 but brought the drive off ebay and when i looked they dont have a working 1 which sucks
Call them. They may still repair it, but your warranty is bust. Also, you should think about that the next time you think about opening it.Canvas_Of_FleshYea since you opened it idk if they are going to do anything to it because it is OOW and you violated the terms. They say if it is damaged or has been serviced before but not by them they will send it back un-repaired. Believe me my drive stopped reading ps3 games but i bought a new 80gb i think you might want to buy a new one.
nah some1 might buy from me for 200 so i might just but a new ps3, also i found a blueray drive on ebay so idk wat to do get the blueray drive or sell it
I've bought 2 from this seller, if your from the U.S. just to let you know this seller is from Maryland. But anyway both have been used for 2 different ps3's and both have worked flawlessly. You can look up to make sure these are for the 60gb models I can't seem to remember right off the top of my head. If I remember correctly this one works on the orginal 20gb, 60gb and 80gb models, but don't hold me to that lol. But anyway its very easy to replace and I can do them now within 15 mins, just look for a tutorial on youtube and you should be fine. But I would try cleaning the lens first with some rubbing alchole priorto ordering a new one though.

Just thought I would post what I did when my Blue Ray failed on my 40GB PS3. A disk got jammed in it one day so I opened it to get it out and springs and cogs went flying! I tried like hell to rebuild it but had no luck so decided to get a replacement. However I found out that each Blue Ray player in a PS3 is 'tied' to the machine it was originally installed in so straight swapping is not possible. I tried it by using a Blue Ray player from a 60GB model that had the red flashing light error and my PS3 wouldn't acknowledge the drive at all. But with a flash of inspiration I swapped the PCB's that are on the bottom of the players (about 5 screws and 4 or 5 ribbon cables - easy done) and it works perfectly. If your drive is mechanically faulty then this is a good solution to a repair but if it has had a bad flash or software update then it's not going to work. Hope this helps some anyway. Phil... read your own post...
The players are not "tied" to the ps3... but the circuit identification board is. Don't misrepresent your understanding of the internal workings of computer equipment as "fact" or your ability to figure out comp hardware 101 T&E level stuff as "a flash of inspiration" (read: "Dude I am sooo smart).
Your player can be changed out, there are two different versions though, you need to figure out which one is in your box before you order a replacement part. It is eitherKES-400A or KES-410A, if you have a shiny silver bottom on your blu-ray drive then you've got the KES-410A... if not, the other.
